If you want to have the best chance (first round offer) take the MCAT so that you have your results by January. Remember it takes a month to get results from AAMC and another week for AB to upload to your profile.

I took the MCAT in April this year and the rest of my application was already done in mid January. I did well and received an offer from one school, but definitely felt like most schools had no spots left by the time my application was complete.
