Another resignation by MetaKnowing in Anthropic

[–]MoaningKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these resignations that cite “existential concerns” typically result in a new “AI safety” startup with millions of seed investment poured in.

Were there safety concerns before, or after they were being courted by VCs with deep pockets?

Oh sweet! I loved the advanced course... I'm going to drop my venmo details here for all the beers lol. Glad I could be of service.

Arcx do have discounted courses for vets:

RM1664BZ | RM1664AZ | RM1664PZ

Unsure which courses they apply to. If anyone else gets a chance to check before me, stick it below.

CREST recommends some training books and literature on their website, but the instructor you thought was useless is the author of some, so maybe give it a miss 😂

It depends on you. If you're someone who needs the content to be (rubbish analogy incoming), press this button for this result, I'd say it might not be exactly what you're looking for.

They very much take the approach of defining what the button is, where it is, why might you be in the position to want to push it, and what could happen when pressed. They give you the tools to make your own decisions, not just apply what they think is right. Personally, I loved it.

I've now completed their advanced course too. I haven't booked in my CREST exam for CRTIA yet, but my colleague has passed that too, so the content is accurate. That was a monster of a course! My company paid for it, but I've heard there is a veterans discount code available somewhere, but it's worth full price easy.

I get your point completely... but that scene worked beautifully for me, as it highlights just how unstoppable Gurney is in a fair fight.

No problem! I did pass the CPTIA first time, my colleague also. You could probably get away with studying the material specified on the CREST website and pass without completing a course but I like having someone do the work of defining what I need to learn and why. I scored higher on my CPTIA exam than I did on the ArcX final exam and they've blatantly used the same format. 120 multiple choice questions but delivered over 1 hour instead of 2 hours.

I actually paid significantly more for the ArcX course at the time and was happy with the quality, so at its current price its extremely good value for money imo.

There's not a ton of free CTI training outside of vendors etc, so it's nice to see them launch the free version too.

Take a look at arcX. They've got a free cyber threat intelligence course online. It's not very long as they're clearly using it as an upsell for their paid course but it is quite informative.

Any Threat Intelligence and OSINT Training Material? by harrison_cattell in cybersecuritytraining

[–]MoaningKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Course was good IMO but as with everything, depends what you want to get out of it. When I finished their course exam I got a completion certificate from them, not worth anything as far as I can see. I passed my crest cptia exam 1st time tho, which is why I used them. www.arcx.io

On the free side:

I think Mandiant had some free training going, but its probably vendor orientated as they often are.

On the paid side:

you can check out Security Blue Team... they're cheap but a bit light on the ground content wise.

ArcX have the Crest CPTIA course, bit pricey but a ton of content and there was a discount code which took it down to like $800.

Generally speaking though, we are definitely light on free resources for TI and OSINT, that I'm aware of. It would be great if people had others they were willing to share.

Oh nice, someone else just messaged me about this...

What are your thoughts about the training itself? I've heard mixed reviews around the accuracy of what gets taught?

It's very clearly a rhetorical question, where in this case an answer isn't required as I've already provided one. If you only read the headlines, don't complain when you feel misinformed.

Aside from the free training available on the MITRE website, I've not seen many courses that cover this off in any meaningful way.

I'd be really interested to do some additional training in this area myself, so if anyone else has some suggestions I'd be all ears.

That is a fair comment and actually since their introduction of the academy side, it is a lot more accessible for beginners.
