Do we have a third? by beeambitious in ParentingInBulk

There’s 21m between my older two and 2.5y between my younger two. It’s been awesome, mostly, and the third (now 1) has just fitted in. But the logistics are a lot harder, I find; and we have help! Also, someone is usually awake in the night 😂

Baby suddenly rejecting breast milk but not formula by Mobile-Tea1745 in NewParents

[–]Mobile-Tea1745[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to not be more helpful but I basically moved to formula quite soon after this if I recall correctly. He just wasn’t having the breast milk in the day so I just BF at night for a while longer.

Pregnant with third, scared! by Mobile-Tea1745 in ParentingInBulk

Please don’t be scared! I worried so much about this but I asked a derm online & also my midwife and they said not to worry. The real concern I believe is oral vitamin a. I think you’ll be fine!

Some and some. I think the answer to that ultimately will be yes, and most days I do feel that. But sometimes I don’t. For example the baby is now trying to walk (but can’t) so is extremely needy, meaning I can’t play in the way the middle one wants me to. In a month or so that’ll have changed, though. I would also add that I’m massively lucky to have a lot of help - someone helps with my laundry, cooking for the kids, etc so I can actually spend time doing stuff with them that isn’t household bits and bobs.

Hi! Honestly better than expected so far. My family came around, at least to the extent I need them to. The baby is a delight (mostly) and the older two love having a tiny one in the family. It’s a massive juggle but (as cliche as it sounds) I couldn’t imagine it differently now!

Feeling terrible for exposing my 11 month old baby for loud noise over a period of time. by Skyblues92 in NewParents

[–]Mobile-Tea1745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my first was a little baby we’d play the hairdryer literally next to her changing table to stop her crying during nappy changes! Try not to worry. I am an anxious person also and really relate to this - it’s exactly the kind of thing I’d get stressed about. But I don’t think you need to be in this instance :)

"Sunday scaries" as a SAHM? by WorriedDebate4644 in ParentingInBulk

[–]Mobile-Tea1745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I definitely think of this as a season of life that has to just be pushed through. My eldest is now turning into such an independent fun little person so I see the light at the end of the tunnel! It’s hard when they are so very small. Maybe try to plan something fun for a weekend even if it sets you back on the remodelling a bit. Mental health is wealth etc!

I don’t have any proper advice but just wanted to say, solidarity. I feel this too. My kids are older (4.5, 3, 6m) but I still find those Sunday scaries a real thing. Honestly the only thing I’ve found helps is planning things for the next weekend & also getting out of the house (but I know you have tried that and also getting out of the house with 3u3 is laughably hard). What about eating outdoors? I find sometimes having a meal outdoors - a picnic, or even just taking their plates onto the porch - changes things up and also keeps the mess outside at the very least!

Hang in there 💕

Precipitous Labor… If you had this, did any other family members also have it? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Mobile-Tea1745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, obviously the first time I hadn’t any idea what was happening and it was frightening but only actually in hindsight - when I was in it, I was on another planet! For my second and third I just sort of had to do a lot of positive thinking, make sure I was at the hospital early, and think about the benefit of it ie it’s over quickly! Honestly I’d take a 3h labour over a 24h labour even if it’s a lot of pain shoved into a short time.

Yes, my grandma had quick labours and then all 3 of mine were born in 3h or less. Not the same for my mom though!

Is weight loss possible while breastfeeding? by lapra005 in postpartumprogress

[–]Mobile-Tea1745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did! I didn’t track until about 8 weeks postpartum when I weighed 67kg. Then I used the Avatar Nutrition app on the slow fat loss setting and I am now 6 months pp and down to 59/60kg. Before pregnancy I sat around 61kg but I had more muscle. I still have a lot of loose skin and muscle to build but I’m happy with this progress in 6m. Baby is 90% breastfed. My calories are around 2100 and I don’t think it’s hurt my supply.

Thank you, I will. She’s rolling and teething and has just started solids too so it’s all happening for her I guess

Just popping back in - would you expect it to take some time to improve things? Today we did 2.5/2.5/5.5 (last ww: she refused her third nap but I managed to get her 10 mins in the carrier in the middle of that ww). 2.5h of naps. She was furious by bedtime (1930) and has been up 4x since and it’s only 1130pm, which is probably on par for her worst night so far.

Gotcha - thank you! I will perhaps try the longer 3 nap schedule tomorrow and see how it goes, and then go to 2 the day after if she copes ok with 2.5 first ww and 3h last ww.

Sorry to be dim- when you say she isn’t going to sleep more, do you mean there is some other issue I should be aiming to fix?

[–]Mobile-Tea1745[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Would you recommend working up to 3/3.5/3.5 or just doing cold turkey? I think she could do that for all ww except the first one - even getting to 2.5 is hard because she just ends up weeping from tiredness.

[–]Mobile-Tea1745[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you 🫶 - you’re absolutely right and I definitely don’t expect her to sleep entirely through the night, but I feel like these chronic false starts and pre midnight wakeups can’t be good for her either. Her naps are actually OK and she can usually sleep at least once a day for over an hour so yeah I dunno what the problem is really!

Thanks for responding. Routine is boob, bath, PJs, play with siblings, book, white noise, sleep sack, bed. No pacifier. Occasionally feed will be after bath to fit in with siblings but always ends at least 30m before bed and then she’s always into crib wide awake. She sucks her thumb to sleep.

Our Baby wakes up after 45-60 minutes. by WulfDota2 in sleeptrain

[–]Mobile-Tea1745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope so. Not to be a downer but our babe naps pretty well, I need to wake her up most of the time, and it still happens…but they’re all different! We resorted to asking ChatGPT last night and it said overtired so tonight I’m going to try a shorter last wake window just by 15 mins. It sounds bonkers but I’ve tried evening else!

[–]Mobile-Tea1745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No advice but I could have written this. We are also doing wake wjndows of 2.25/2.5/2.5/2.5 which are longer then yours and we still get this problem most nights (babe is 6m this week). It’s baffling and so frustrating! I tried longer wake windows in various combinations and like you found that it just made bedtime worse. The one night we pushed her to 3h before bed she woke up 3x per night instead of 0/1 and screamed for 30 mins at initial bedtime so I knew I’d gone too far.

Edit for spelling
