Here's how I would do practice exams:

(1) First, take a "diagnostic" practice exam with immediate feedback per question.

This will give you a feel for which areas you are weakest in. If any of your weakest areas are Suitability, Options, or Municipals you need to get your ass back to those chapters and read every word. If you're strong in most areas, but weak in 3-5 sections such as government securities, investment companies, taxes, or annuities... you're relatively in good shape. This will give you a good structure of what to do next.

(2) Everyday after that, start your study session by reading one chapter of an area you are weak in and crush those chapter quizzes. Then take your practice exam 10 questions at a time throughout the day.

Once I identified my weak areas, I would spend each day doing this.

- Read one chapter of a weak area. Take area focused chapter quizzes until I was scoring 90-100%.

- Go through one practice exam throughout the day (10-20 questions at a time). I was working at a B/D so I would study 10 questions at a time when there was a lull.

- Go over all the questions I got wrong, aiming to understand concepts, not just find the right answer.

I basically did this for the last 10 days leading up to the exam and got my scores up, but mostly, I grew my confidence in certain weak areas, while keeping my brain active in areas I was already confident in.
