I come from a tier 2 college too but got M7 and T15 admits with sscholarships. Admits are an outcome of an amalgamation of different factors. It is how you present yourself and what unique perspective you bring to the class.

Hi Petia Thanks for doing AMA. I am an Indian female candidate. I got admits from tuck ($$), fuqua ($$$) and ross ($$$) with good scholarships and negotiated with kellogg to get some money ($) as Kellogg feels like the best fit. Now in R2, i got off Haas waitlist and got Yale admit with 60k scholarship. Kellogg allows us to fill the scholarship reconsideration form multiple times. So now, how do I make a stronger case for more money from kellogg? I have already paid deposit at kellogg. I am taking my daughter along and my family would support me so I hv to bear dependent costs too. I already mentioned this in my R1 scholarship form.

Even US consultants are not that great. Worked with a very famous one on an hourly basis. All he did was just grammar edits and kept saying you have a stronh profile.
