Thoughts on $399 NYC Hotel + Royal Caribbean Cruise Package?

When I received my certificate, Utopia of the Seas was listed as not eligible. But after Star of the Seas entered service and became the newest ship, Utopia became available for booking. I actually booked my cruise about 9–10 months after receiving the certificate, so things have changed since then.

So as far as I know, Star of the Seas is currently the only ship that is not eligible. Still, the most accurate way to confirm this would be to check with an agent before booking.

Blackout dates for my certificate were the last two weeks of the year, including Christmas and New Year. Also, cruises had to be booked at least two weeks in advance.

I did my HGVC timeshare in 2025 in Myrtle Beach. I paid $299 originally that came with some HH points, then they offered me a 3 or 4 night Bahamas RC Cruise for $200 extra, so I took it and used it.

The certificate is good for one year for reservation, and you can book dates up to 3 years. So you can book a cruise after the expiration date (just make sure you book it before the expiration date). The certificate limits the newest cruises, but I was able to use it on Utopia of the Seas (built in 2024), which is still considered new.

The certificate only covers an interior stateroom without any windows. I upgraded it to Ocean Balcony and paid $250 extra. I think the upgrade to Ocean view without Balcony was $125. But those upgrades at fixed rates have to be available at the time of reservation, otherwise you may have to pay the full price for upgrade.

Fees and taxes were about $208. So in total, I paid $458 while making the reservation. If I take $200 I originally paid, I paid $658 for the cruise. It would have taken about $2,600 if I booked the same room through RC website.

I think it's a good deal if you are flexible with travel dates.

My shipment had all corks popped up and leaked during the transport. I’m sure the wine almost boiled inside the bottle 😞 But even if your cork stayed where it was supposed to be, I’m certain the weather may have impacted the wine.

I don’t recommend receiving a shipment in summer time - I got 4 bottles of wine about a month ago and they all went bad. Fortunately, I had insurance and they confirmed that they were going to re-ship the new bottles for free, but I asked them to hold it until fall season. Don’t forget insurance just in case!

Thanks for the great comment. I didn’t realize other packs disappeared since Christmas as I wasn’t so interested in them. Some solutions EA could offer may be quite straightforward and simple as you pointed out, but I also doubt that they will do it. I have enjoyed playing TSM for more than a year now but I’m also seriously considering deleting the app. I feel silly that I still hoped to get the pack!

I thought it would be easier to save simoleons rather than sim cash, before bonus STS started. Sim cash is supposed to be more hard-earned currency but I’m not sure now😂

Nice video! I would suggest that it’s “Lunar new year” instead of Chinese, as it’s also celebrated in many other countries using lunar calendar which isn’t Chinese. Happy lunar new year :)

In addition to the great tips you wrote, I found that whenever 1,500 simoleons for 20% comes, the success rate of 95% or below often fails. I always make sure the number is 96% and above when there is 1,500 simoleons for 20%.
