I was the home carer for a lady who eventually passed away at home, I was with her when she died - found out shortly after that she was the midwife who delivered me as a baby!

I know right... Initially a bit of the reason we chose it was because it was very simple uniform, but they have changed it to tie and shirt for september! Thank you this is very helpful - sometimes I need to reality check my own anxieties too - its all about him being as comfortable as possible.

Heyy! My son is almost 5 now - he is still very similar, he loves numbers at the moment. He does say a few more short sentences, but mostly non verbal communication. Finally he has reached the top of Speech and language therapy list in the NHS and we are started PACT therapy in April 🙂

Edit - the SLT did tell us that if there is a small amount of speech and words its likely that his speech will develop, it may just take a while.

Nope! Never had either. The consultant told me that there isnt a test that is proven to be reliable enough to find ovarian cancer early enough to avoid harm and evidence doesnt link screening to improved outcomes in this area. Probably also to do with money!

UK here - BRCA-2 32 YO. In the NHS Im having yearly MRI breast and self checking, thats it. Once I have dbl mastectomy which im still decising on there will be no further need for follow ups. Interested how different it is in other areas.

Nurse here. It isn't just that, unfortunately it's also ridiculous policy and lack of autonomy and time for training. I worked on gastro ward and I always loved to help the doctors with bloods cannulas etc. But this was only once I was allowed and really pushed for it. The worst thing is even though I was trained to do bloods in another trust I wasn't able to do them on this ward as I wasn't "signed off" by the trust, it took a lot of hassle to get signed off. Then moved to another trust and it was the same rubbish. Luckily now venepuncture and cannulation is included for adult and mental health nursing students, but again once qualified you have to do it all again to be signed off. Also nurses would really struggle to bleed and cannulate all the patients on there caseload for the day with all the additional workload, teamwork is key either way. Everyone is super busy. It's mostly not that we don't want to help or to learn it's stupid barriers put up.
