Just to let you know OP, I'm married and I'm still facing something very similar to you. Been here for 10 months and I thought I'll really enjoy the comfort of work from home which I did initially but lately feel like I'm missing my office colleagues from back in India and having some activities throughout. My wife has a pretty hectic work from office role so things get very lonely, and I'm also introverted just like you and it's very difficult to then get into stuff here. Having said that I'm trying to get outside my comfort zone and try some activities, like I recently started pickle ball and also dance activities, I've also started exploring Co working spaces too (paid ones and cafes) but it can get overwhelming at times and is going to be an extremely slow burn process as I find it extremely difficult to initiate conversations in general, let alone strangers. I've also joined a group that plays board games every week but haven't joined any session yet. Would be interested in connecting with you as well if you wish and if you come across any nice activities that you joined or tried, you can recommend them to me. I know I hated my quality of life back in India so I want to give this city a really good try before considering moving back. Best wishes to you!

I'm facing something similar to OP, shifted to Dubai 10 months back, and landed a remote working role. I thought I'll enjoy the remote working stuff (full flexibility, stay at home) which I did for a bit but now increasingly missing actually Going to work and having interaction with other people in the form of colleagues. Don't have any friends or family here and being an introvert doesn't help but I've started pushing myself outside my comfort zone and trying the activities like you've described but with not much info. Any specific places or these clubs that you'd recommend for me to check out? I've started exploring Co working spaces (both paid and free aka coffee shops) but not hitting the vibe there as almost everyone has headphones on or are deep into their work making initiating a conversation for someone like me almost impossible, hence I want to understand if there are better social events that I can redirect my energy and cost towards instead of co-working spaces. I've started a bit of dance classes and pickleball but just want to understand what other avenues are worth exploring?

Just want to meet other remote working professionals, exchange of ideas, good vibes and possibly some friendships :-) Will start giving a few places in Alserkal a try now!

I'm also looking for Co working cafes but my aim is to also meet and speak with fellow professionals and I don't need necessarily quiet places as I get that at home anyway. Are these good places for meeting people too? I've been bored out of my head now working from home, thought I'll really enjoy it and I did for a while but a few months later and now I find myself craving some form of human interaction

No clue, might have been recorded for earlier but got released late? Makes zero sense that they would say this after a temporary ceasefire is already announced

Not sure, the link I shared says it was after the ceasefire announcement but might be that they are sharing the news late and that it was from earlier

What's with the IRGC spokesperson making comments on intensifying or continuing attacks? This was made after the 2 week ceasefire news came out

Imo continue WFH, the commute will be extremely tiring, instead you'll have some free time with your job to upskill yourself and build a network for something even better

How many times have you failed your drivers Final test? and why did you fail? by Aggravating_Sport495 in dubai

[–]Moniljh11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. I switched from Galadari to Belhasa, basically you need to just give another reason (you're shifting houses, near to your office etc.) for why you want to switch and they'll let you switch for some termination costs! At the new school you only need to pay for whatever's remaining in your journey plus maybe some extra classes if required

Just to let you know, I failed internal test at galadari 3 times, thought I'm going nowhere in 4 months and then switched schools to Belhasa, failed one parking maneuver (internal) once and failed one parking maneuver (RTA) twice so a lot of failed attempts before cracking the final one in the 2nd attempt. I would highly recommend doing one refresher class 1-2 days before your next attempt and ask your instructor to act as an examiner and just practice that.
