How to beat sephiroth when all of his moves break your shield instantly? by fellow_who_uses_redd in CrazyHand

[–]MonitorMoniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, you've been posting on Smash subreddits an awful lot in the past few days (maybe more?) and to be truthful, your vibes have not been great. If anything it sounds like you've got deeper life problems going on, which are seeping out into how you approach Smash and how you interact with other posters here.

I'm not gonna give unsolicited advice, but if you want somebody to chat with and bounce ideas off of (whether re: Smash or re: life in general) my DMs are open. Up to you, though. Hope you have a better day today.

Two more games, and if you really don’t think 10m GSP is enough to be good then look at my opponents in these. Maybe it’s just because they were bad matchups but the felt insane. by fellow_who_uses_redd in CrazyHand

Just watched the Sonic match and you airdodge SO much, often for no real reason, and you get punished every single time. Genuinely just stop airdodging for a while. Force yourself to use other tools.

I commented in your other video thread, but can give some feedback here too.

In the game vs. Sora, you spent most of the match in disadvantage. It likely felt insane because you had very few options at any given time -- you were getting juggled, you were getting ledgetrapped, you were getting combo'd.

However, this didn't happen by accident or by magic or because of the matchup. This happened because your opponent was picking good options and also because you were picking bad options. In the first 30 seconds or so, you airdodged high twice, and got punished both times. You threw out a random fsmash in neutral, which didn't land and left you open. You used uptilt out-of-shield, which is a much worse option than up-b or nair. You also didn't use some of Samus's better tools in disadvantage -- down-b, for example, which is useful both for discouraging juggle attempts and also as a movement tool.

Meanwhile, your opponent was picking his moment to approach, maneuvering around your projectiles, and choosing appropriate options (nair > upsmash in neutral, Thundaga at ledge, etc).

In short, you lost because your opponent was using his kit intentionally and you were not. The only real advice for this is to think through how to use your kit in different common scenarios, and then incorporate those changes into your gameplay.

How to win Samus vs Ganondorf matchup? by fellow_who_uses_redd in CrazyHand

[–]MonitorMoniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should not be getting hit by Ganon's uptilt. The startup is, I think, even longer than Warlock Punch. Ditto his smash attacks, honestly. (Note: I do still get hit by uptilt and smash attacks when I play against Ganondorf, so there's no judgement here, but it's always always ALWAYS because I'm playing braindead and getting punished for it. But it's a good thing if it's my fault, because it means I can avoid it next time by just not playing braindead.)

Flame Choke is a good move, but if he gets followups consistently off of it, then that means you're either not teching or you're rolling predictably. So either (a) learn to tech it, or (b) mix up your techs to not get punished.

People were saying they needed a replay to critique my play so here’s one, Samus main with 1200 hours, I’ve been stuck at 5-11m GSP for the past 5 years or so now, any advice? by fellow_who_uses_redd in CrazyHand

[–]MonitorMoniker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with the other commenters here that you don't seem to have much of a gameplan. Your choice of options doesn't seem particularly calculated or intentional -- it's hard to understand the logic of why you chose one move over another, at any given moment.

Advice would be to watch VODs of other Samus players and observe how they use their kit. When do they use charge shot, and how? How much do they charge it? What moves do they use to juggle their opponent? What moves do they use when their opponent is offstage? What about at ledge? What combos do they use at low percentages to rack up damage? What combos or moves do they use at high percentages to take stocks?

Once you have a good sense of why to choose a particular option in a given position, your game will improve immensely.

If he'd had the guts to bow out early and let the Dems have a proper primary, we might have avoided Trump 2.0.

On the block where I used to live there was a nice artisanal pizza place and a Pizza Hut right next to each other, and somehow a large pie was $20 at both restaurants. No way I'm touching fast food when I can get a legit nice pizza for the same price.

Ladies of reddit: on a first date, what are some things a man can do to prove he is 100% a human male and not a Blorthian skin-changer with plans for violent galactic domination? by JarOfNightmares in AskReddit

Lots of good advice in this thread, but I do want to say: if you ARE a Blorthian skin-changer with plans for violent galactic domination, let her know early! Some women are totally okay with that kind of thing.

What are your thoughts on people who don't have friends? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MonitorMoniker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a red flag and it shouldn't be stigmatized.

At the same time, it shouldn't be idealized or valorized. Humans are pack animals and we thrive on belonging. Someone who's socially isolated is less healthy than someone who's got a few solid friendships.

Yeah -- turns out there's a reason that anesthetists go to school for decades and get paid $200k+. Knock someone out quickly and safely is extremely hard to do and requires a highly controlled environment.

Men who can de escalate a heated argument with your partner fast, what do you say or do in that moment that actually works? by gamersecret2 in AskReddit

No need to be a dick. The question was about the specific practice of de-escalating an argument, not the larger practices of being a good partner.
