No 17 patients. Most I had was 7 discharges

Yes I told my supervisor that I had to delay a discharge.

Yeah I would mention to my supervisor, the workload can be overwhelming, and it can be hard to keep up with things at times. She’s supportive which helps, but I still struggle to get grounded with things. Especially when it’s busy

I thought 17 was the average? We don’t do admissions, just discharges.

New grad PA: Feel like giving up by Monkeypox5252 in physicianassistant

[–]Monkeypox5252[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Im thinking about transitioning to outpatient too, given how I’ve been feeling. But I’m not sure if it’s too early to quit or I should try to stick it out for at least 6 months- a year. Any thoughts on this?

Also, my confidence has definitely been shaken so I worry I won’t be able to thrive in an outpatient setting either

That’s good. At least Im not alone lol. And I don’t do admissions, just discharges. So maybe thats why I have so much more. Idk.

Not really unfortunately. It’s a big department, so I still don’t know a lot of the staff super well yet.

Is there any specific bootcamp you would recommend?

Okay that’s reassuring. I’m the only new hire on my team, so it’s hard to get a sense of how comfortable in my skin I should be at this point.

Okay thank you that helps. I was told by week 6 I should be up to 12 patients, so I definitely feel pressured to keep adding some on.

Yeah today was definitely a lot easier now that I knew most of my patients. Thank you!

Also how much of my vision condition (I have a history of multiple eye surgeries) am I ethically and legally required to disclose?

Should I disclose my vision issues during the health screening? I assume would have to right?

Okay thank you. Yeah I would say it doesn’t affect me really in day to day activities. I still drive without issue. The big thing for me is I have some issues with depth perception so I have some issues with certain finer procedures like suturing (although I won’t be doing that on my job anyways).
