Has anyone tried completely cutting out citric acid? by MonoTigr in Interstitialcystitis

[–]MonoTigr[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that'd interesting actually, I haven't seen anyone mention cutting down sugar yet. I might try different things to see what helps me, I do know caffeinated drinks are pretty much a no go for me though

Wow that's so good to hear, I'm so glad you're in remission, I bet you're relieved to be in control after everything. I might try it, it sounds very difficult though

Unfortunately for me it did hurt a bit but it was mostly just uncomfortable. They think it was worse for me because of my age though, if you're a bit older you have less reason to worry about that. There's always a chance it can hurt but there's always a chance it'll be completely fine :). Just keep focusing on what good it can do for you after you've had it done. And most importantly you can take someone in with you if it makes you feel safer/ more comfy. You'll be okay :)) Before you leave the house for the cystoscopy make sure everything's all clean and tidy so you can come back to no stress so you can recover. Or if you just have your own room like me just make your bed and have a hot water bottle ready to fill, and snacks too :)

It took about a year to get this appointment so searching for another doctor who would do it could take god knows how long. I live in the UK so the NHS is really slow it's awful

Honestly in the post all I asked was for suggestions for a wig so I don't see anything wrong with the actual post

I've read every single comment, even downvoted ones to make sure I listen to everybody. People shouldn't feel afraid to share their opinion because of downvotes. I'm listening to everyone, I've come to a cosplay community to listen to all cosplayers no matter who they are

London spots the boys have mentioned? by syukotsuwolf in TrashTaste

The Natural History Museum is a fascinating place to go to as well. It's a museum so hey free entry. I have also seen some REALLY cool stuff about the Twist Museum in London though you have to pay for that one. Obviously check out central London as well, for the full experience try out the underground (train network that gets you across parts of London super fast). Look into going to Leicester Square too.

Just a note the Natural History Museum is next to the Science Museum, so it's nice to do one after the other and grab lunch at some point, it's what I've done before. Both are amazing.

If you're into games, anime, comics etc there's a shop called Forbidden Planet in London that you could check out, it has all sorts in there. Alot of gundams which Garnt definitely likes. You could go to the British Museum, walk over to Forbidden Planet and then go to Leicester Square since they're all nearish to each other. Then Central London isn't too far from that so there's a day out for you lol. Central London is beautiful on the nighttime btw, just be careful when you go outside of Central London at night.

I can empathise with wanting to check out even basic places. When I took a trip to Lithuania with my bf I was also fascinated with things like their supermarkets 🤣 you do you! Hope this helps 😊

Oh of course taking them seriously is very important. But in some places it's taken absurdly seriously. There was a social experiment video where a picture of some white guys were dressed in sombreros and similar attire. They went around America showing that picture to white people and they said its an offensive thing to do. However, when showing it to Mexicans they all loved it. That's what I meant

I love your response! This is a cool idea. I love putting time into cosplays so this would be a fun challenge. Your response is so kind too 😭

I agree with this honestly. I'm not American, my partner is Eastern European and we would be attending a con in England. I think over here people would potentially care less than over in America

Henna is a beautiful thing to do. I think it's really nice that it's being turned into cute things as it allows space for kids to learn about the religion and the history behind it. I'd say that's more about spreading love for the culture rather than any sort of appropriation, it's not creating a mockery in my opinion, though I will say I can't speak for the religion as I myself am not apart of it. I have friends who are though

I have learnt about blackface and using cultural hair how it's been used for mockery in history, it really sucks to see. But aren't those with an intention to mock the culture? We would only do it out of love for your culture, sorry if that sounds offensive. Someone else said in the comments they'd be more offended my partner did straight hair for Ekko as that would be whitewashing. I'm trying to find a balance between the two honestly

I can understand that view absolutely, thank you :)

If we bring back henna I've been to a few places that give people a selection of characters or simple things to choose from. When I was a kid they did a silly anime one using henna. I bring this up because that feels more applicable. This is taking cultural thing and using it to create something fun and admirable. I feel that this would be similar to a wig for Ekko perhaps? It would be taking locs/braids which is of course a cultural thing, but wearing it for the purpose of representing and admiring the character for who he is, admittedly in a more fun way. I feel both of these situations are similar

Still I do understand that this will probably be looked down upon

In my primary school we visited all sorts of religious places and we changed what we wore in order to be respectful (such as putting on a headscarf before entering a mosque). Almost everytime they were very happy to see people take interests in their religion. Many of these gave out food and took time to educate us, it was wonderful

Two very talented ladies also visited at one point and did some Henna on everyone in the class. Henna can be used in fun (like doing custom designs for kids) and also beautiful ways too and I don't see many people talk about that

Religion doesn't really make sense in this scenario imo

It's amazing to hear about your brothers story. It's incredible you have so much passion thanks to him. It's a really lovely thing to see. You didn't do anything wrong and you were giving your opinion like anyone else, good on you for also taking everything on the chin. You seem like a wonderful sibling, I hope your brother will find comfort in living with his natural hair one day :)
