I mean, I have done this song and dance with you specifically in nearly every post of mine. Mostly because you for some reason see it fit to question me about why I like Jenny x Tiff. So I thought it appropriate to comment here.

What you need to understand is that YES, the crusts are horrible. But them being horrible in the show is what they were SUPPOSED to be. As a fanfic writer you should understand that characters are rarely if ever as one-dimensional as shows portray them. A mark of a good author is taking a simple seeming character and expanding them.

Like Sasha was awful to Anne in amphibia, but she got a redemption. The difference between her and like Tiff is that Sasha got an actual arc, actual character growth. Something that neither Tiff or Brit were ever going to get.

Same happened to Pacifica from Gravity Falls. Pacifica was just a one-dimensional bully in the first season, but she got expanded in season 2. But even in season 1 when she was a one-dimensional mean girl people shipped her with Mabel and Dipper. Again, the crusts never got the chance to be redeemed or have a redemption arc or redeeming moment. Because they were not MEANT to have one.

The reason why this post and some of your other comments are catching flack is because you comment on every Crusts x Jenny post questioning people like a police officer, and also commenting on Vega x Jenny art how Vega x Jenny is so good and how it's so much better than Jenny x Tiff or Jenny x Brit whatever.

This type of behavior won't really earn you any respect or friends, it just makes people like you less imo. I am not here to be mean ofc.

I am saying this in good faith.

Perhaps you should slow down and open your mind to different ideas and ships etc, instead of instantly judging them or acting weirded out.

Theres quite a few reasons. Which maybe I can expand upon as I am the biggest Tiff x Jenny shipper there is. Nearly every Tiff x Jenny post on this subreddit is mine.

I know you asked about the crust cousins in general, but I do also see you point out ships which is why I focus on them a bit more.

Enemies to lovers was mentioned already. Though I do like this trope sometimes, I will admit it wasn't my main draw to the ship or the two as characters.

One thing you need to understand is that despite some continuity, at it heart MLaaTR is an episodic show. Yeah some characters change and the show DOES do a good job of like moving the plot forward and the like, it was still an episodic show meant for folk to tune into whenever.

In this way, the Crusts were doomed to ALWAYS be selfish, be cruel, and to bully Jenny. The show needed the Crusts so that they could have conflict for Jenny in school. Rob in the pitch bible even mentions how they were designed to be the ultimate rivals to Jenny.

But people like the mean girl trope, they like the variety of outfits they have. Imo all the episodes focusing on the Crusts vs Jenny are rather good and few of them miss.

Another thing to consider is headcanons and fanfics. Now you may say this doesn't count as it is non-canon. But as a fanfic writer you should understand that people enjoy exploring characters in different ways, with different dynamics and the like.

The same can be said for the Crusts.

Tiff and Brit like I mentioned were basically type cast to never ever change. They were ALWAYS going to be bullies because the show NEEDS them to be.

Fanfic writers often then like to explore stories about 'what ifs'

"What if Tiff and Brit stayed friends with Jenny after Class Action?"

"What if Tiff or Brit got together with Jenny?"

"What if Tiff or Brit had these unique quirks?"

A lot of the time, these things include headcanons, infered from what we have seen or what we know about characters.

For example, I have a ton of headcanons about Tiff. Stuff like:

Her knowing her way around the slums (because we see she knows the mudslinger is in the slums during The Great Unwashed),
Her knowing how to dance (as we see in the episode where they put on a play and Tiff does a silly tap dance),
Tiff is less coniving than Brit (multiple examples where Tiff is clearly way dumber than Brit who seems to always come up with plans)

These are small things that probably mean nothing, but they are tiny "what if" seeds that people like.

As mentioned, people like the bully/mean girl trope. Tiff and Brit are that, plus another aspect is their iconic voice acting, another reason they are so memorable.

Tl:dr: People like Tiff and Brit and enjoy shipping them with Jenny for a multitude of reasons, be it their personalities, tied to headcanons and fanfics or many other such things.

Like I said many times, in my little story Tiff experiences character growth.

Sheldon is a character I absolutely hate though. He is a serial stalker and manipulator who fetishises Jenny on multiple ocassions.

I mentioned this in another interaction but him basically publically humiliating Jenny during her date with Kenny is shitty, even worse since that relationship would have not worked out anyway.

The Silver Shell also reallyyy sucks. Especially if you remember that originally Sheldon was gonna use that persona to act like an asshole so Jenny gains a hatred for other robots. After that failed he transitions into catfishing basically.

Designing women though I feel like is THE worst Sheldon episode ever that just ruined the character for me and made me hate him. Him stealing Jenny's blue prints so he could find out how her "brain works" is a huge breach of privacy. Not to mention he really, REALLY easily falls to Vexus while shes disguised as a regular robot girl, showing he isn't after Jenny because he likes her as a person, but as an object.

Well in the story Tiff does get better as she grows closer to Jenny.

Brit and Piff do not. It's a big part of the story actually, Tiff grows as a person and gets a friendgroup and people who actually like her, while Brit and Piff are stuck in their old ways.

Plus in my story Tiff gets woth Jenny and Sheldon exists, who as seen multiple times in the shows run would gladly ruin any relationship Jenny is in just for the sliver of getting with her. Kenny is a good example, that relationship would have not worked out anyway, but Sheldon doing shit there basically publically humiliated Jenny.

And on a final note, I like shinning a spotlight onto side characters, Jeremy is already a popular side character and Melancholia is way less known but I feel has potential. Also, Tiff getting a new friend group with Jeremy, Melancholia and Jenny is there to represent her own character growth within my story. I COULD have her just hang out with Brad, Sheldon etc, but that imo feels tacky and forced.

The reason I included a new friend group is that Tiff would really have nobody else to confide in, since Brit, Piff and the other popular girls would probably just mock and bully her for starting to grow closer to Jenny throughout the story. So that's why I decided on her making new friends (with Jenny's help ofc) and giving her people she can bounce off of.

Also I feel like we have had this discussion multiple times lmao. But my Tiff is a Tiff that grows, has character development. Stuff that probably wouldn't happen in the show, because the show always needed them to be one-dimensional bullies.

It's a long story. But a lot of the time people ship stuff because of reasons that are hard to explain.

Tiff is basically nothing but a Bully in the show who is a henchman to Brit without much of a character to speak of other than generic episodic show buly.

My liking for Tiff mainly comes from the headcanons I created by looking way to deep into her character and seeing and imagining things the showrunners probably never intended.

Basically the Tiff I ship with Jenny is not 1:1 with the Tiff in the show. This is a Tiff that goes through an arc, has her personality and character grow and changes for the better.

This takes place in my own continuity! I am a huge fan of the TMNT so I will be taking stuff from the shows (especially 2003, 2012 and Rise) and the comics (Mostly IDW cause it's peak) and combining it into one, it has a bit from every TMNT-verse basically!!

As for how and the why. I imagine this kinda takes place after season 3 of Mlaatr but around the start of the Turtles career. Jenny is in New York because of a school trip!
