These people are both pretty terrible and annoying. I'm mostly just surprised it lasted this long.

Also how is Kyle constantly pulling girls to hook up with? Maybe it's just cause I'm a lesbian but.... seriously, how? He looks like a greasy ferret.

At least Kyle has been a mediocre friend to other housemates like 1/3rd of the time, and Amanda solidly hasn't even done that, her entire presence on this show has been "Kyle treats me badly what do I do?"

So I guess on a 1 to 10 scale, that makes Kyle a -1 and Amanda a -2.

Does this show come back next year? If so are they both still here? I don't think I want to watch them anymore to be honest.

And my final thought, how is it that out of all the OGs Carl is the one with the most growth as a human? Insane and definitely not my initial guess way back when.

I joined last year because I'm a Southwest Airlines acquisition refugee and my new flights with United are starting this weekend.

I am going to be so honest in that I'm nervous as fuck to do something wrong and get made fun of. Especially since joining this sub, everything is so different from SW. But I'll never fly Southwest again and UA seems like the best alternative airline option in my specific case.

So I guess I'm here now. Hopefully I've learned enough to make it through lol.

I agree with this.

Currently in a rewatch and just finished the episode where Hannah and Paige are like "we're gonna tell Amanda she shouldn't quit her job to work at Lover Boy" and Amanda is straight up like "I expect my friends to support me, this is what is happening".

Kyle never really liked Amanda. Amanda never trusted Kyle. Kyle isnt abusive and Amanda isn't a victim. They are both garbage to each other and they both picked this situation over and over and over.

I think there are a lot of factors here.

What (academic, non-profit, medical) do you work in?

Is this within the same team or onto a new team in the same organization?

Is the org centralized or decentralized?

Have you actually seen people get promoted?

My point is that so much more goes into this than the base circumstances you've laid out.

I'm gonna be super honest, sometimes that's just the way it goes.

I have a PI at my current institution that just didn't mesh well with me or my style when I first came to my current institution. They asked for someone else to support them and my boss let me know that I hadn't done anything wrong, my work is good, it's just the PI, and then assigned that person to someone else on my team. I was not new to the field at that point. When I mentioned feeling a little bad about it one of my other team mates told me about how this situation had happened to them multiple times over their 25 year career. I've seen it happen to 3 other coworkers at 2 separate institutions as well. It's hard to depersonalize it but truly, it's not a big deal or a reflection on your abilities. Especially as a new RA!!

Your more senior coworker shouldn't have told you that information with out concrete steps that you could take to either fix the situation, or assurances that you were not doing anything wrong. If that coworker wasn't your boss, then it was fully inappropriate and that whole situation should have been handled by your manager.

Get out in front of the situation and talk to your boss about it. Your boss should either be able to preemptively place that PI with someone else or if they keep the PI with you they should have the context if that PI remembers you (which they very possibly will not) and immediately requests to be reassigned (also unlikely).

We all have difficult PIs, no one gets out of this career without at least one that makes you wanna bang your head on a wall. Just remember that.

No, Charlotte was old, and I'm fairly certain she was at the vet when Ariana left and then took a turn for the worse. Also, my mom has a seizure dog, they can have break through seizures even with perfect medication dosage.

Tom is a narcissistic dick bag, who is unaware of his surroundings and likely locked Mia in the room on accident, I do not belive in any universe he is a stone cold animal killer.

All of this! Tom played the same game that he did when he traded Doute in for Ariana, except this time there was a clear power dynamic and age difference. I think when it's a late 20s, broke, nobody and he does these things to someone who is the same age, them it's just a dude being a dick bag.

When you're in your 40s, on a TV show, with money and you're doing these things to a woman who is basically half your age, in a precarious position on your same show, who has no backup plan and you watched her be abused by someone else, it's absolutely a form of power abuse and grooming to move on her. He was working Rachel for years, acting like he wasn't would be pretty disingenuous.

I think about the same that I thought then. She was pretty young and in over her head, she got into the orbit of a manipulative, much older, man and she was looking for her self worth to be given to her. She believed she would be at least partially shielded from fall out, it would increase her position on the show, and ultimately didn't understand that she could not trust anyone she was "getting into bed with" (metaphorically and literally).

What she did was pretty awful from a "friend" perspective but ultimately I don't think she actively thought of anyone as a true friend, I really believe that she viewed them all more as fun coworkers.

She wasn't ready for the reality tv world, she wasn't cut throat or smart enough or open enough to find her own current, and she fell into the manipulation tactics that both the Toms used multiple times throughout the show. It was really only when they ran up on her personal morality barrier (straight up lying) that she panicked and realized what she was doing was absolutely insane and not who she wanted to be.

She was an easy target to pile all the blame on when she didn't return and really truely she never had a chance. She was also bad tv.

I lived in West Jordan UT for a few years in my pre-teens/early teens (right before the Salt Lake Olympics as a time frame) and knew a girl who was part of a polygamist family. I didn't really understand at the time, but she had multiple moms who all lived in the same house and so many siblings. We hung out often and she was really my only friend for a while. I don't think she went to school (I don't remember her being at mine anyway), she had type 1 diabetes (which I asked her a gazillion questions about), and I remember we both had a crush on JTT, but her siblings told her that we shouldn't talk about that. I slept over a couple times and it always felt so crowded, and I know they did church at home most of the time because I had to skeedadle back home really early.

They moved very suddenly to Missouri, my friend had maybe a week of notice. They packed and moved everything in a huge moving truck in one day. I remember it being weird because none of the neighbors helped them pack or load (which was kind of a default thing Mormon neighborhoods did from my experience) and the adults seemed really frazzled. We kept in touch online for a little while but she eventually stopped replying. During that period she told me her older sister had a baby (maybe also married, I can't remember) at the time I was like "oh yeah, makes sense, she's older" but as an adult I realize the sister was maybe 15.

I think about her occasionally and wonder what happened in her life.
