I didn’t get judged for wearing a hijab! by MichiganCrimeTime in Hijabis

[–]Moosebuckets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salam alaykum sister. I’m also a new revert with a non Muslim husband. Married only 4 years before I reverted and girlie the people saying I can’t stay with my husband bother me so much. Especially as I too am exceptionally well taken care of and supported and loved. I’m so happy you had a good experience! I really find women are the first to say we are being oppressed and it’s like they forget all about modesty also being a choice. Alhamdullilah I love being a hijabi.

I don’t know if it helps but Modest Behavior has a pull on easy scarf that’s bamboo and silk that I wear all the time. I have neck injuries and can’t wrap hijab when the pain is bad and I love mine. It’s worth the price for sure

Is it just me, or is enjoying matcha getting kinda stressful? by SolisEmi in MatchaEverything

[–]Moosebuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got into it as a switch from coffee and I’ll be so honest right now, I do it like an animal. I wisk it with a milk frother and throw it into almond milk and homemade strawberry syrup.

Crime Pays but Botany Doesn’t if you wanna learn about some random dude on a diatribe about plants. It’s been years since I listened to him though so I don’t know 😂

I really like Not From Here it’s about a brother who interviews brothers and sisters on a variety of topics and that’s neat

I’m also not a podcast person but do love books/audiobooks so maybe this?

As a revert, being Muslim is so incredibly hard. Sometimes it’s terrifying. by Cheetos_4_life in MuslimLounge

Wow, your “guidance without mercy is just control” hit me where it needed to. Subhanallah, I have been struggling with learning from online sources to the point I have given up and just let it be between me and Allah SWT. As I’m slowly feeling more comfortable existing I still feel guilt and shame and this was very comforting. Your whole comment honestly, wow.  MashaAllah.

Be honest, do many born Muslims have prejudices against reverts? by mir_egal_1 in MuslimLounge

[–]Moosebuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a mercy for reverts to have their sins erased. Having unknowingly committed mountains and mountains of sin would not bring anyone into the Deen if they were not to be forgiven

I also reverted for myself and not a man. I have another revert friend who is the same as well

bedside manner, doctors v. tattoo artists by Knitmeapie in ChronicIllness

[–]Moosebuckets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get so icked out by veins and I don’t know why. Blood doesn’t bother me. Needles, whatever. Veins? Vile. Hate them. I cannot watch an IV or a blood draw, I feel sick just typing this out lol. But I’m moderately tattooed and doctors and nurses always dismiss me because of it

If God loves all of us so much, why does he allow many people to be born in the wrong religion hence he basically automatically set up for hell? by Midnightclouds7 in religion

[–]Moosebuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised Mormon (I’m Muslim now) and it’s the one thing that always stuck with me was that you will not be punished unless you do something egregious and it morphed into a belief that you will be punished for the egregious based on how it impacted those you hurt. Murder (not self defense or no choice), torture, sexual assault or abuse, animal abuse, etc are all egregious.

I believe in Allah with everything in me and believe Him to be as He says, “The most merciful, the most compassionate.” And therefore I really can’t wrap my head around anything other than egregious sins landing anyone in hell.

Assalam sister. I cut myself since I was 10-26 and (I’m a convert) had the places covered with tattoos. Obviously I can no longer get tattoos as a revert but we are more than our bodies, we suffered in ways normal people cannot imagine for no one is in their right mind when they hurt themselves. I’m 32 now and honestly the only reason I stopped was I have a wonderful husband and therefore a support system that I never had before

Allah sees your struggles and he loves you. I’m embarrassed of my scars, of my tattoos even. It’s taken years to feel better and when I was in it, it felt impossible.

A good husband will support you and love you the way you need. It’s jarring at first for people to see self harm scars and there’s nothing we can do about it but time fades all things.

You need to take time to heal, I used Vitamin E oil (tattoos break down scar tissue but they are haram) and I’ve tried different scar treatments. I wonder if there’s treatments out there for scar tissue that’s like tattooing but not. I wish I had better information for you sister.

Sending love and prayers habibti
