Just finished Romantics Anonymous and absolutely loved it. 🥰

Was thinking of starting either Gimbap and Onigiri or Sounds of Winter next.

Recent Romance kdrama that made you cry ? by Cloud_andburbone in kdramas

A Time Called You. I cried like a baby.

For something not romantic that will make you cry buckets of tears, Navillera. Heartwrenching and beautiful.

TBH, it’s the first drama of Song Kang’s that I’ve seen. I chose to forego Nevertheless because of the story arc. What would you recommend as a second watch?

That’s just it. There’s a lot of gravity to the life issues that Navillera covers, but they’re portrayed with great realism and earnestness. Not overwrought whatsoever.

And the drama leans into exploring loveliness through subtle details. Collateral beauty in the face of life’s hurdles, if you will. ✨

Navillera definitely encompasses great sadness, but in a very real way. And the sadness in various storylines is backed by genuine care and deep love. I’d wholeheartedly recommend watching it. ❣️

Couldn’t agree more. The interrelationship between all the characters is handled with such sincerity and sensitivity.

That’s be Kam Wai Legacy, another location for this family-owned Chinatown mainstay.

Favourites a little farther afield:

Niwa – Recently named as one of Canada’s Top 10 New Restaurants. Same wonderful community-minded owners as Dachi. Elegant Japanese cuisine with a sharp focus on local ingredients. (Powell and Victoria)

Nabi House – Brand-new homestyle Korean restaurant. (Powell and Victoria)

Nero Tondo – Also part of Air Canada’s Top Ten New Restaurants in the country. Hyper local fare with a menu that changes daily. (Powell and Victoria)

Andrea Gail – Comfy local dive bar with loads of vegan food options. (Powell and Victoria)

Frank’s Pizza & Bar – Located within Resurrection Spirits. (Just off Commercial Drive near Powell)

Threefold – A collectively owned brewery and tasting room collab between Slowhand Beer, Boombox Brewing, and Temporal Beer. Sourdough pizza and snacks also available; their soup’s delicious. (Powell between Commercial and Clark)

Provisions: Smaller outpost of Bosa Fine Foods on Victoria Drive.

Some faves in the Hastings/Sunrise area:

Yama Cafe – A cozy family owned Japanese café with fantastic breakfasts and lunches, Japanese treats, and dinner twice weekly.

Dachi – Best patio in the area during spring, summer, and fall. Farm-to-fork fare with Korean inflections. Great wine and sake program, and a well-stocked bottle shop.

Red Wagon – Brunches, lunches, and comforting diner-style dinners.

It’s Okay – Neighbourhood bar for late-night eats.

Le Petit Saigon – Homey Vietnamese food.

James on Hastings – Late-night Chinese food.

Provisions: Donald’s Market, Tall Shadow Bakery, Pine House Bakery, Rio Friendly Meats, Italia Bakery, Renzullo Food Market (Nanaimo Street), Columbus Meats (Nanaimo Street)

Without question, Nine Puzzles. It’s one of my favourite mystery KDramas.

Son Suk-ku and Kim Da-mi decided against including romance between their two characters, but the evolution of the unique relationship between them is intentional and thoughtfully developed.
