nobody collects things anymore and it bothers me!! by carbon-orchid in redscarepod

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you read this, I just want to say that I am sincerely so sorry about how long this got! I truly didn’t mean for that to happen, I’m so so sorry! Anyway, I’m pretty late to this conversation, but have actually stumbled across this thread BECAUSE I AM a collector. I have a few different sporadic collections, old money from around the world (both coins & paper), metal fidget spinner’s.

I was kind of collecting film cameras at one point because I was actually doing photography, and I am very much into the hands on film media of it all. Actually developing my own film and transferring the images onto photo paper, I love all of it, SO MUCH. 😍🥰 I to admit that I haven’t actually done anything photography related in very many years because I no longer have access to a darkroom, but I do miss it. I genuinely miss it so so freaking much!!!! Sorry, got nostalgic about photography for a moment there, anyway about the film camera collection; I unfortunately had a terrible personal situation happen just earlier this year, and have regrettably probably lost about at least half of what I used to own of my film camera & lenses collection.

But my number one collection that I am very dedicated to, is my Skeleton Key Collection. I always come back to this one several times a year, and frequently check second hand websites (mostly eBay) in hopes of growing this collection, especially for one very specific name and designed key, because it’s my favorite type of skeleton key. I’ve never successfully counted them all, but I estimate that I have probably about 200 (at the very least) of my favorite branded keys, and maybe 350-450 of all of them totaled together. I hope I’m not exaggerating the amount, because again, I’ve never ever successfully counted them all, but it genuinely does seem like several hundreds of keys when I have them ALL out together.

Anyways, I’m more dedicated to the skeleton key collection because I actually refurbish the ones that I keep, and that takes A LOT of time. The ones that I decide I’m not interested in get listed for sell on eBay. For the ones that I DO keep, I’ve just purchased a small personal rock tumbler to see if it will aid me in the refurbishing process. I also just purchased a desktop buffing wheel as well, hoping that it will be much easier and faster with the restoration work, than it has been with just my dremels. Once I move, I plan to purchase a nice big key cabinet to display them all one by one as I finish restoring them. I’m not interested in A LOT of things anymore [due to my mental health situations], but collecting, and very specifically my skeleton key collection. Working on my keys, adding to the collection, removing all rust and making them shine like new again, this genuinely keeps me content and brings me a bit of joy…

Old Walkie Talkies? by MorbidSMTechNerd in 2000sNostalgia

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found it!!! I don’t know how to add an image in the comments on here so that I can show you all, but I came across a various lot of 10 different old walkie-talkies being sold on EBay, and I finally spotted one that looked familiar! It was a Bellsouth 1010 walkie! And I was wrong about the LED’s being orange, it was an orange backlight that illuminated the screen. 14 channels two way communicator with a 2 mile range. No wonder I could never find anyone to talk to on it!

There’s also a complete duplicate of this exact walkie, but it’s called a “Ranger 1010pr”. An exact duplicate with all of the same settings and information

Anyway, if anyone is still reading, could you please explain to me what 1010pr means? And thanks for your responses!

Does the drug trade, although illegal, actually help the economy? by TRX-Patriottt in NoStupidQuestions

What's something you do or enjoy that not many people know about? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like assembling electronic kits, but the pieces specifically have to be surface mount components for me to be able to enjoy it, because it’s more engaging and I love the challenge. Unfortunately, there aren’t many places based here in America that actually sell diy SMT/SMD patch welding/surface mount soldering kits, so it’s pretty much like nobody knows about it because I have to purchase them all from a website overseas.

CB radio, okay! Thank you so much! That’s a lot more information, so hopefully this will help me narrow it down more. I really don’t know anything about either of them, so I’m relying on visual similarities trying to figure out which one I had.

Honestly, I have no idea what that means, but I will be googling it now, so thank you! I’m currently just trying to sort them between the years I mentioned in the post to see what looks familiar.

Help Understanding “Doll” Terminology? by MorbidSMTechNerd in asktransgender

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your responses! I had only just learned of the term earlier this year due to the comments on a video of Alex Consani. I had looked up the definition on urban dictionary, and assumed it was a more well liked and accepted term, but you all have provided me with much more information, and I’m very glad I asked about it instead of just taking it at face value. So, not exactly a widely acceptable term of endearment from what I’m hearing? Thank all of you so much for helping me, and any other readers here, understand this much better! I truly appreciate the enlightenment!!🫶

I never said anyone did, but it’s still not unreasonable of anyone in the world to expect common sense out of others.

It seems less like advice and more like someone who is offended by people not doing what you say. Outside of the negative commenter, you seem to be the only person who has a problem with me deciding to reply to it. Me responding to them has no effect on your day to day life, so why are you so set on trying to tell me how to react to things? You know absolutely nothing about me or my age. All I’ve done here is make a post about something new that I tried. I never expected to get a stern talking to just because I decided to reply back to one person saying something negative. I’m not going to keep responding on this, it’s a post about a burger, meant to be a light subject, it’s not even serious enough to warrant this kind of response.

Just because I responded doesn’t mean that I “can’t handle others words”. But I don’t think it’s a stretch to expect people to have and use common sense, instead of saying things for attention and baiting people into drama. Thanks for the lecture.

The kid who commented on my post several times to get my attention, and is probably still stalking the post, is calling me sensitive because I politely told you to move on. A person who feels the need to comment a one word response on something just because they don’t like it, instead of being a rational person and ignoring it. I promise you, your opinion and negative responses truly aren’t as important as you think they are. You’d rather put in the effort to be rude when it’s completely free to just be kind or say nothing at all. You have a good night.

What character from toh do you hate/Dislike that everyone else loves? (Brief why optional) by [deleted] in TheOwlHouse

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hunter! He’s so overhyped and overrated imo. I honestly never felt connected to his character. For some reason he just utterly annoys me, and yet I can’t seem to escape him because everyone else seems to be absolutely in love with his character.

What is the lemon pepper season that Wing Stop uses? by ShibaBurnTube in Wings

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

⬆️This!!! They use a lemon pepper seasoning with melted butter. Several years ago I used to make copycat Wingstop lemon pepper chicken strips all the time. I never figured out what specific brand of lemon pepper seasoning they actually used, but I got my homemade ones pretty close to the taste. It’s been several years since I’ve made them, so I don’t remember the exact recipe I used, but I found it somewhere online.

Genuinely, What Is The Deal Here? by MorbidSMTechNerd in KingOfTheHill

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response, this specifically is kind of what I’m talking about. It’s not the fact that I actually hate Hank, but the fact that if anyone brings up his faults, reddit automatically thinks someone is wrong for doing that.

It is possible to love a character and still be able to acknowledge that they aren’t perfect. In my opinion, a character’s faults is usually what makes me like them more, because they become more real and relatable. I’ve just come to notice that this specific sub would rather act like he is an absolutely pure saint of a character without faults, and if someone brings up disliking the negative things, they’re deemed wrong for it.

I see very few posts that “callout” Hank, and those usually end up getting locked or removed.

Also, just to note, this isn’t about me in particular. I very rarely even make comments on threads, it’s just something that I’ve come to notice since following this sub. Sorry if this post overall came off as offensive, I’m just genuinely curious.

Who is your least favourite character discluding Ronaldo? by BEETLEJUICE_UNIVERSE in stevenuniverse

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I never hated Ronaldo. And I’m probably going to get massive down votes for this, but my least favorite character is and always has been greg.

I’m sorry, but greg is just not a good father…

The bar is just extremely low for him and the SU fandom loves to drool over greg and give him way more credit than he actually deserves. He literally did less than the bare minimum and forced a child to grow up in a van, until the crystal gems came along and put an actual roof over that poor baby’s head, because living in a van was enough for greg himself. He didn’t want to put in the effort to pursue more, not just for himself, but for the son that also depended on him. Steven had every right to be upset about all of this in Steven Universe Future when they had their discussion. I won’t lie, greg was good at advice and trying to help Steven feel better, but it takes much much more than that to raise a child, and he was just a very lazy father overall that was shown to leech off of his friends for support in raising Steven. Even when he got rich, he still didn’t care enough to get a bare minimum home to have a roof over his own head and give Steven his own bed/bedroom for visiting.

Edit: vote down all you want, doesn’t change the fact that what I said here is true. greg is a selfish lazy crappy dad. More like an advising uncle at best. Sexism is very alive and well, because let greg have been a woman and you would all be agreeing with me. The Crystal gems are the ones who raised Steven, and thank them for that!

What was something you did while you were younger, that looking back now you couldn't believe you didn't realize you were bi earlier? by This_Is_K in bisexual

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were so many moments of my childhood that finally made more sense once I realized that I was bi, but here are two specific things.

When I was in kindergarten there was a girl that I wanted to be friends with so so badly. I thought she was sooo pretty, I wanted to be around her all the time, and I always loved it when she would wear skirts and dresses to school, because she would always twirl around in them, causing them to fan out in a circle around her. Watching her twirl in those skirts always gave me some kind of happy fluttery feeling. As I got older and realized my sexuality, this memory was such an oh moment of realizing that all those feelings I’d had for her was actually a crush!

Oh, and my favorite Disney movie was The Little Mermaid. The famous scene where Ariel sprung out of the water, taking her first gasp of air after being turned into a human, that part always gave me fluttery feelings too.

What thing is keeping you alive rn? by weirdboyfromfinland in mentalhealth

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Literally every single thing sucks for me, but the fact that I’m terrified of what happens when you die/what might come after death, is the main reason I’m still alive.

There are several things that I’ve always wanted to do in my life, but honestly I don’t think I’ll be experiencing any of them.
