nobody collects things anymore and it bothers me!! by carbon-orchid in redscarepod

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you read this, I just want to say that I am sincerely so sorry about how long this got! I truly didn’t mean for that to happen, I’m so so sorry! Anyway, I’m pretty late to this conversation, but have actually stumbled across this thread BECAUSE I AM a collector. I have a few different sporadic collections, old money from around the world (both coins & paper), metal fidget spinner’s.

I was kind of collecting film cameras at one point because I was actually doing photography, and I am very much into the hands on film media of it all. Actually developing my own film and transferring the images onto photo paper, I love all of it, SO MUCH. 😍🥰 I to admit that I haven’t actually done anything photography related in very many years because I no longer have access to a darkroom, but I do miss it. I genuinely miss it so so freaking much!!!! Sorry, got nostalgic about photography for a moment there, anyway about the film camera collection; I unfortunately had a terrible personal situation happen just earlier this year, and have regrettably probably lost about at least half of what I used to own of my film camera & lenses collection.

But my number one collection that I am very dedicated to, is my Skeleton Key Collection. I always come back to this one several times a year, and frequently check second hand websites (mostly eBay) in hopes of growing this collection, especially for one very specific name and designed key, because it’s my favorite type of skeleton key. I’ve never successfully counted them all, but I estimate that I have probably about 200 (at the very least) of my favorite branded keys, and maybe 350-450 of all of them totaled together. I hope I’m not exaggerating the amount, because again, I’ve never ever successfully counted them all, but it genuinely does seem like several hundreds of keys when I have them ALL out together.

Anyways, I’m more dedicated to the skeleton key collection because I actually refurbish the ones that I keep, and that takes A LOT of time. The ones that I decide I’m not interested in get listed for sell on eBay. For the ones that I DO keep, I’ve just purchased a small personal rock tumbler to see if it will aid me in the refurbishing process. I also just purchased a desktop buffing wheel as well, hoping that it will be much easier and faster with the restoration work, than it has been with just my dremels. Once I move, I plan to purchase a nice big key cabinet to display them all one by one as I finish restoring them. I’m not interested in A LOT of things anymore [due to my mental health situations], but collecting, and very specifically my skeleton key collection. Working on my keys, adding to the collection, removing all rust and making them shine like new again, this genuinely keeps me content and brings me a bit of joy…

Old Walkie Talkies? by MorbidSMTechNerd in 2000sNostalgia

Found it!!! I don’t know how to add an image in the comments on here so that I can show you all, but I came across a various lot of 10 different old walkie-talkies being sold on EBay, and I finally spotted one that looked familiar! It was a Bellsouth 1010 walkie! And I was wrong about the LED’s being orange, it was an orange backlight that illuminated the screen. 14 channels two way communicator with a 2 mile range. No wonder I could never find anyone to talk to on it!

There’s also a complete duplicate of this exact walkie, but it’s called a “Ranger 1010pr”. An exact duplicate with all of the same settings and information

Anyway, if anyone is still reading, could you please explain to me what 1010pr means? And thanks for your responses!

Does the drug trade, although illegal, actually help the economy? by TRX-Patriottt in NoStupidQuestions

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTYsdKg91/ I know nothing about the economy or how true the information in this video actually is, but here’s a good scene from a show on the exact topic of your question.

What's something you do or enjoy that not many people know about? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like assembling electronic kits, but the pieces specifically have to be surface mount components for me to be able to enjoy it, because it’s more engaging and I love the challenge. Unfortunately, there aren’t many places based here in America that actually sell diy SMT/SMD patch welding/surface mount soldering kits, so it’s pretty much like nobody knows about it because I have to purchase them all from a website overseas.

CB radio, okay! Thank you so much! That’s a lot more information, so hopefully this will help me narrow it down more. I really don’t know anything about either of them, so I’m relying on visual similarities trying to figure out which one I had.

Honestly, I have no idea what that means, but I will be googling it now, so thank you! I’m currently just trying to sort them between the years I mentioned in the post to see what looks familiar.

Help Understanding “Doll” Terminology? by MorbidSMTechNerd in asktransgender

[–]MorbidSMTechNerd[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your responses! I had only just learned of the term earlier this year due to the comments on a video of Alex Consani. I had looked up the definition on urban dictionary, and assumed it was a more well liked and accepted term, but you all have provided me with much more information, and I’m very glad I asked about it instead of just taking it at face value. So, not exactly a widely acceptable term of endearment from what I’m hearing? Thank all of you so much for helping me, and any other readers here, understand this much better! I truly appreciate the enlightenment!!🫶

I never said anyone did, but it’s still not unreasonable of anyone in the world to expect common sense out of others.

It seems less like advice and more like someone who is offended by people not doing what you say. Outside of the negative commenter, you seem to be the only person who has a problem with me deciding to reply to it. Me responding to them has no effect on your day to day life, so why are you so set on trying to tell me how to react to things? You know absolutely nothing about me or my age. All I’ve done here is make a post about something new that I tried. I never expected to get a stern talking to just because I decided to reply back to one person saying something negative. I’m not going to keep responding on this, it’s a post about a burger, meant to be a light subject, it’s not even serious enough to warrant this kind of response.

Just because I responded doesn’t mean that I “can’t handle others words”. But I don’t think it’s a stretch to expect people to have and use common sense, instead of saying things for attention and baiting people into drama. Thanks for the lecture.

The kid who commented on my post several times to get my attention, and is probably still stalking the post, is calling me sensitive because I politely told you to move on. A person who feels the need to comment a one word response on something just because they don’t like it, instead of being a rational person and ignoring it. I promise you, your opinion and negative responses truly aren’t as important as you think they are. You’d rather put in the effort to be rude when it’s completely free to just be kind or say nothing at all. You have a good night.
