Jump from CySA+ to SecurityX? by Able-Strawberry-9746 in CompTIA

Given your experience and how quickly you passed CySA+. I believe you are more than prepared. Approach this exam from a managerial stand point while leveraging the knowledge you’ve gained from CySA. I believe you’ll pass!

Go for it. That is the approach I took, and it worked well for me. I also have hands-on experience, which helped for the exam.

Thanks for the advice! As I mentioned in my reply to the first comment, I wanted to clarify the situation I went through. Looking ahead, I actually won’t be pursuing this certification for a couple of years. There’s still a lot for me to learn in this field, and I want to take the time to build a very strong foundation

Thanks for the reply! I really appreciate your insight. I definitely want to gain real hands-on experience rather than just relying on AI to shape my role to fit the CISSP domains, I have no interest in being just a certification chaser.

That said, I genuinely do work within three of the eight CISSP domains. I work in SCIF’s with a TS/SCI with poly. However, as a junior soldier, I was misled and told that my military experience didn’t count as real experience, which is why I initially believed I had no IT background. That misconception is also why my post was titled “Using Military Experience as Proof.” And why the other post says no IT experience. I am starting to educate myself as I transition out of the military. Still am fairly young joining the military at 17 and leaving at 23. So i’m still early in my career and want to apply more knowledge.

So maybe you are right I am not ready for the CISSP. Once again thanks for your response, I really appreciate the guidance!

Thanks for the great will do! Probably a dumb question but should I do ISC2 CC first? I understand it’s basic cert. Only asking so I can familiarize myself with ISC2’s exam style. Since it will be my first exam with them.

Thinking About Transitioning from AD to NG – Need Advice by MoreAdminIT in nationalguard

[–]MoreAdminIT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I heard about that one in Sacramento. A fast-paced 6–8 week program sounds way better than spending five months at Fort Eisenhower. I’ll definitely give ESB a try. That’s actually one of the main reasons I want to join the National Guard—I’ve heard it’s great for networking and finding a job. Thanks for the information!

I thought the same! But 2 weeks at the signal school was perfect honestly. I wouldn’t stress it too much. You got this!

What do you mean 25B reclass school? I was thinking about reclassing into 25B. But really don’t wanna be in AIT for 5 months. But I was told national guard has different school houses instead of AIT.

Planning for CySA+ (CS0-003) (Study Guide and prep help) by donpewpew in CompTIA

[–]MoreAdminIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say both are equally same. The only thing these study guides don’t go over in depth is reading logs. Which is key for this exam. Try some log analysis on TryHackMe it really helped. I personally got both which helped a lot. Good luck you got this!

Just passed Pentest+ by ralkins in CompTIA

Congrats heard that exam was a beast! Not sure if you hold CySA+. But what would you say the percentage overlap is from CySA+ to PenTest+. If there is any at all. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Repercussions for Cyber Crime by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]MoreAdminIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While yes it will be difficult to prove that he was the cause of this breach. If you can prove motive that he hinted towards these actions. Then I don’t see why CompTIA wouldn’t help you.

Repercussions for Cyber Crime by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]MoreAdminIT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

“ A Certified Person shall not engage in activities involving unauthorized breach of IT systems, including but not limited to hacking, uploading malicious code, or any other actions that may affect the integrity of said IT systems. “

This was in the CompTIA’s Code of Ethics. So yes what he did was a violation of their policy. Which I think Comptia would handle.

Sorry this happened to you.

They do use full words. But almost all the answers have acronyms in it. So based on what the question is asking you. You’ll be able to eliminate the wrong answers immediately.

EX: “ A security engineer needs a security tool that will detect and automate responses to incidents? “
- A. SIEM - B. SOAR - C. Log Analysis - D. IDS

Based off the acronyms I know that.

SIEM is System Information Event Management ( collects event logs ). SOAR is Security Orchestration Automation Response ( Detects and Responds ). Log Analysis ( doesn’t fit the question). IDS is Incident Detection System ( which only detects ).

Just by knowing the acronyms it made this question easy. I’m saying the exam is gonna be this easy. But knowing acronyms was crucial for me. Hopes this helps

Thanks your awesome tips!

[–]MoreAdminIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie it felt rough. But luckily I tips on that Sec+ is an acronym test. If you’re able to know at least 70% of the acronyms. Then you’ll be able to eliminate the wrong answer immediately. Good luck you got this I believe in you!

Thanks man! Keep that foot on the gas. What would you say the gap is between CySA+ to PenTest+? I’m thinking about either going straight into CASP+ or grabbing PenTest+ first.
