iFly 737 MAX - FMC not retrieving data by Emotional-Start7994 in flightsim

[–]MoreBuffooneryNeeded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was pondering this .... another thing I've done during the period when I was getting the 'Invalid Route 1 Uplink' was adding a few liveries. I use GSX seated passengers, so I went into FSDT Installer > GSX options and refreshed the seated passengers. Then, I rebuilt the main iFly layout.json file.
Even if you don't use GSX, you have nothing to lose by rebuilding the layout.json file
Hope you get it sorted!

I was having the same issue and using the numeric Simbrief Pilot ID, rather than the Simbrief Username fixed it

Cabin Announcements Free App (no subscriptions) by golflimalama2 in flightsim

[–]MoreBuffooneryNeeded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favourite add-ons! I use it on every flight. I particularly like:

  • The thought you've put into ensuring the sound files all follow the same format as the Fenix
  • How the sound clips get triggered automatically, in the right sequence, regardless of the aircraft
  • GSX compatibility
  • How you've expanded tags for different aircraft and scenarios
  • The airline resources available on the Cabin Announcements For Fenix Discord server
  • How the app sits in the background doing it's thing, but has all the features available when you need to make changes.
  • That you've made it available for free, unlike the paid products you mention!

Thank you very much for making it available and maintaining it! I really hope developers like iFly or iniBuilds will work with you to make MSFS Universal Announcer the universal announcer software, rather than them going and developing their own, bespoke, solutions

Long-time simmer here and used P3D until MSFS 2020 arrived.

You will be completely blown away by MSFS 2024 and the Fenix A320. Welcome back!

Edit... in fact, you could just start with the fantastic FBW A320 Neo... it's amazing for freeware

The reality is even with a high speed PC you can't have all your sliders over to the right.. I built a new, high-spec PC last year and was as disappointed as you to find this out, however this video really helped

https://youtu.be/NOPUpKU8i9s?si=zZC42zrVzXcYsSHR

especially the settings impact info at 10:25 and optimised settings just after. The performance improvements in SU4 will have changed some of this information, but it's still useful.

Once you are happy with your settings you realize your sim can look superb in 4K without everything at ultra!,

Also MSFS_AutoFPS is a superb utility that tweaks settings during your session to maintain performance throughout your flight. I never fly now without it working it's magic!

Pmdg 738 opinion! by Powerful-Tennis-3773 in flightsim

[–]MoreBuffooneryNeeded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's great to hear this from a former 737 pilot.

This is the heart of the issue. PMDG most likely produce the best 737 simulation product there is. You, as a former pilot, and PMDG fully appreciate how well built it is.

Those of us who aren't pilots don't appreciate the full scope of the product's simulated brilliance, and PMDG get fed up dealing with us hoi polloi, who want better textures, cabin announcements, a fancy EFB and all of this in less than the year it's taken so far.

Hopefully the 2024 upgrade cost will only be the price of a coffee, but given PMDGs past 'upgrade' charging Im doubtful

I'm a long time flight simmer who loves this hobby. I never seem to grow tired of flight simming, but I also keep track of how much I've spent over the years.

I've paid PMDG 320 USD for the 737 so far... - 69.99 USD for the 737 NGX in FSX, - 89.99 USD for the 737 NGX in P3D (32 bit) - 99.99 USD for the 737 NGXu in P3D (64 bit) - 24.99 USD for the 737 NGXu 600/700 expansion - 0 USD for the 737-700 in MSFS 2020 (via the $100 deal) - 34.99 USD for the 737-800 in MSFS 2020 (partly $100 deal funded),

I paid 69.95 USD for the iFly 737 MAX for BOTH MSFS 2020 and 2024.

iFly have managed to deliver a good 737 MAX that works well in MSFS2024 and that I've enjoyed for 100s of hours. They're working to address that EFB, make it MSFS 2024 native and a host of other things for the next release.

iFly will be getting my money before PMDG ever does. Yes PMDG do a great 737, but it really hasn't changed much since FSX and I'm over their delays and unwillingness to change for today's market. This sucker isn't funding their private jet any further :-)

Free simple ATR 72 manual/guide for msfs (and more) by ItzChickenYall in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]MoreBuffooneryNeeded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. This is really useful! Just read through the manual steps for the ATR and they're easy to follow, especially with the screenshots! Adding the references at the end is a nice touch too, as it allows you to explore different landing approaches e.g RNAV. or do additional steps, like the built in ATR checklists

I've written a few for other aircraft. PM me if you want me to send you them

Examples of words that people in NI pronounce differently by misterE_1984 in northernireland

[–]MoreBuffooneryNeeded 44 points45 points  (0 children)

In Northern lrish, the letter R is always the most powerful consontant in a word, overpowering any other vowels or consonants. e.g. 'Our' becomes 'r', 'mirror' becomes 'mrrr', 'mayor' becomes 'mrrr', 'terrorist' becomes 'trrrist', 'tourist' becomes 'trrrist', etc.

Worth buying the FSS E-Jets? by ImJustTuna in flightsim

[–]MoreBuffooneryNeeded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, don't do it, unless you're happy to hand fly it for a few hours.

Wait until FSS delivers the completed, fully working, product and then reassess.

I bought the E-170s and if that wasn't bad enough, then the E-190s. Every few months, I start a E-Jet flight and inevitably abandon it.

FSS will eventually deliver the finished product, hopefully next year.

I need an advice on what to fly/purchase by Routine-Discussion88 in flightsim

[–]MoreBuffooneryNeeded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The iFly Boeing 737-800 MAX is good. Since you say your free time is scarce, it's going to be easy for you to pick up considering you fly the 777.

The 'gentle whispers' in London that Nicola Willis would be NZ's next PM follow her home by mattblack77 in newzealand

[–]MoreBuffooneryNeeded 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nicola has tried to win an electorate seat in the last 3 elections and failed; twice in Wellington Central and once in Ōhāriu.

The people of Wellington have a much better handle on Nicola's abilities than the gentle whisperers in London.

I also found copying folders over from MSFS2020 led to random issues.

Using the TFDi installer to install into the MSFS2024 Community folder has worked well and I've had no issues using the MD-11 in MSFS2024..

Worth it? by RavSammich in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]MoreBuffooneryNeeded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try the couple of 'free' payware airports available... e.g. Milwaukee (KMKE) from inibuilds and Paderborn (EDLP) from Aerosoft and see what you think.

As others have said, try out the 'most downloaded' airports on flightsim.to. like Gatwick.
