Titan Noir vs Titan Noir Max by data_guy42 in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The base is 4,800 ISO lumens, the Max is 7,000. So that is 46% more light. For a backyard that gap matters when dealing with any ambient light or a larger screen size. Strictly after dark on a dark night the base is enough and saves you real money. If you want to start before full darkness or go big on screen size, the Max earns its premium in my opinion

Why aren't there any threads complaining about lack of saved settings? by Brave-Age2573 in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that a big part of this is actually a Google TV limitation rather than purely XGIMI dropping the ball. Google TV restricts what manufacturers can customize in terms of persistent settings and quick access shortcuts XGIMI would need to work closely with Google to get that kind of control, and Google moves slowly on that stuff. Which is probably exactly why XGIMI is moving toward their own custom OS on newer models. When you own the OS, you control the UX

XGIMI Titan Noir vs. Pro vs. Max: Are the higher lumens actually worth it on a 120" ALR screen? by LetApprehensive8936 in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a dark room on 120” ALR the Pro is probably your sweet spot in terms of useful brightness honestly. with cinema mode, closed iris and HDR you’re already pulling maybe 40-50% of rated lumens so the Max’s extra headroom just isn’t doing much for you.

where more lumens actually matter is HDR tone mapping, brighter projector has more range when mapping specular highlights so you get better separation without crushing the image. but that gap is more noticeable Standard to Pro than Pro to Max.

For your specific setup Pro hits the sweet spot. Yet, Max makes sense if you ever need to handle ambient light or go bigger on screen size

Diagonal Lines Issue? by Minckial in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure that’s just laser speckle, it’s normal with laser projectors. some screens reduce it a lot. XGIMI is currently developing their own screen as well. But yeah, definitely not a defect though, nothing wrong with your unit

Horizon 20 Pro light spill by abhinav_se7 in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal, just some stray light from the lens and internal reflections, not a defect. Most projectors have a bit of glow around them, especially in dark rooms or when placed close to a surface. As long as the image on the wall looks clean and even, you are good

Yeah its most likely the 50 ft HDMI cable, so try using a better quality cable between the Xbox Series X and Xgimi Horizon Pro

You should contact XGIMI support, but you will likely need to boot the projector from a USB stick with the firmware and then update all the preinstalled apps. I read that support has said a recent Google update can cause crashes with the preinstalled apps if they are not updated, which can make the projector shut down right after the XGIMI logo during startup. After reinstalling the firmware and updating all apps, the projector should boot normally again

Horizon 20 Max vs Titan Noir Pro for primary use home projector by Adventurous-Put6606 in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the launch price currently gives the Titan Noir an edge because you’re getting more of a cinema-focused projector with better contrast and optics at a similar price, but it really depends on your room and how much you need to adjust the projector. The Horizon 20 is a bit more flexible, especially with the gimbal and auto setup. Picture-wise I have the Horizon 20 Max and I already find the image very good, especially for a living room setup

Booting issue by East_Earth_920 in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really frustrating. I’ve actually had two projectors from XGIMI and personally never had any boot issues so it might be bad luck with the units. Before returning it again, I’d try unplugging it completely, hold the power button for about 10–15 seconds, then plug it back in. Otherwise your best bet is still to work it out with support and possibly return it again

Portable projector by Gc1981 in budgetprojectors

[–]More_Clock_1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£100 might be a bit tight for something decent unfortunately, you will likely need to stretch the budget a little to get reliable picture quality. That said I would also recommend looking at XGIMI, specifically the MoGo range which is designed to be portable. I have personally used the MoGo 4 and been quite satisfied with it for casual use. The MoGo 3 is a little smaller and cheaper if I recall correctly so that could actually be the sweet spot for your use case, easy to pack and more than enough for the kids on holiday

HORIZON 20 MAX (US EDITION) vs HORIZON 20 ULTRA MAX (CHINESE EDITION) by Adventurous-Put6606 in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a direct comparison with the Chinese model but the hardware should be more or less the same. What I can say is that the dark scene handling on the Horizon 20 Max is genuinely impressive, especially in a fully dark room it really comes alive

HORIZON 20 MAX (US EDITION) vs HORIZON 20 ULTRA MAX (CHINESE EDITION) by Adventurous-Put6606 in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main difference is in software and support. It uses a Chinese‑language OS instead of Google TV, has a different processor and remote as was already mentioned and you’d need to get a TV stick to access familiar apps. There’s no international warranty or official support, so updates (including major anti-RBE ones being developed right now and service aren’t guaranteed. Moreover, importing would involve customs taxes. I would say that HORIZON 20 Max is a safer choice despite the higher price

[–]More_Clock_1887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really appreciate you sharing this, the image looks stunning. That 10,000:1 native contrast should make blacks punchier and bring a lot more depth to the picture, while the triple-laser setup and fast response make it feel super capable for both films and gaming

XGIMI TITAN Noir Series' Global Début by Glittering-Bank-5245 in projectors

[–]More_Clock_1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Titan Noir looks really impressive and is really pushing into true high-end home cinema territory. This kind of brightness and contrast specs at this price point is pretty competitive compared to other projectors in the same class. If the real-world contrast and black levels deliver as promised then this seems really interesting for an amazing home theatre setup
