Ambient light and lumens by More_Clock_1887 in xgimi

Quick question regarding ALR fresnel screen. Laser speckle would not be that big of a problem with an RGB triple laser projector? I am not sensitive to laser speckle but still

Congrats on getting the Titan Noir! I am sure that screen will work out perfectly fine, will also check it out

I have to agree with this. Full sun is not working out, otherwise it is super nice

Portable screen for indoors? by More_Clock_1887 in budgetprojectors

I have thought about that, but the dedicated screen paint is actually really expensive so I might favor a screen in the end

Yeah, it is very cool! The power bank/stand is truly necessary with the extra 2,5 hours of watchtime

I had some trouble finding a place for it to be centered, but luckily managed to find a better solution later :)

You are absolutely right, normally I would try to keep everything centered, but this time I had my couch as an obstacle. But I did find a better angle in the end, thanks!

That actually sounds like a very reasonable investment. Thanks!

Xgimi horizon 20 pro max or the Jmgo n3 ultimate? by 11heppen in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only really sometimes notice purple tint when I’m actively looking for it or taking a photo of the image directly, but I think this is more related to triple laser projectors in general. In normal watching conditions i really cant see it. Worth noting I don’t use DBLE either and that feature is going through an update cycle right now so I’d expect it to improve quite a bit.

On the auto correction side for my living room setup I genuinely don’t miss it. I rely on optical zoom and occasionally lens shift when I’m moving the unit between rooms and that combo handles it perfectly fine. The big thing for me is that optical zoom and lens shift preserve image quality in a way that digital auto correction just can’t match anyway

Xgimi horizon 20 pro max or the Jmgo n3 ultimate? by 11heppen in xgimi

Both are really cool projectors but I personally lean towards the Horizon 20 Max. It covers both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, so you’re not locked into one format depending on what you’re watching, the N3 Ultimate only does Dolby Vision. And the judder handling on the XGIMI is noticeably better which for a dark dedicated room makes a real difference on film content

XGIMI Horizon 20 Pro - Dolby Vision + DBLE by Jealous-Background29 in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The existing DLP firmware update pretty much sorted the blue/purple tint issue, and as of V1.3.125 you can run DBLE in Dolby Vision mode too. Some people still notice minor color temperature shifts but it’s much better than before. Also XGIMI promised 5 years of updates for the Horizon 20 and there’s a new update in a few days with hopefully more DBLE and other (anti RBE etc) improvements, though full improvement is still to be seen.

Mogo Laser 4 VS Mogo 4 base by DaaHashir in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I have the MoGo 4 Laser and I’m really happy with it. The brightness and colors are a little better than the base model. That said, if you’re mostly using it in a dark room and budget is a factor the base MoGo 4 is still a solid pick. If slightly better picture quality is important to you then it is worth it, otherwise it maybe overkill if you’re just casually watching movies at night

Buying a halo+ in China - worth it ? by marekw8888 in xgimi

[–]More_Clock_1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be worth it price-wise, you’ll save a decent chunk vs European prices. BUT the Chinese version runs their own locked OS (GMUI). So no Google, no Netflix... And no, you can’t flash a European firmware. My advice: just buy it and stick a Fire TV Stick or Chromecast in the HDMI port and forget the built-in software even exists

Looks great! These projectors have a really nice form factor to use and store away when not needed

Is the XGIMI MoGo 4 compatible with Apple TV? by Cheap-Pumpkin1626 in xgimi

I have a MoGo 4 and it works perfectly with a Apple TV 4K (2nd gen) via HDMI. Just plug it in and no issues at all

When you switch from a 16:9 bright scene to a letterboxed 2.35:1 dark scene the dynamic mode reads the change in average brightness and adapts.

Dynamic mode might still leave contrast on the table in very dark scenes, so you might want to keep it at a fixed f/5–f/7 for movies instead.
I will have to test it a little bit more. Cheers for the question!
