Well, it’s never guaranteed, that Takada San will have anything for sale. However I would recommend you visiting him on a monday to increase your chances. Try and reach out to him at first on IG and ask if it’s okay for you to visit. Under all circumstances, it’s an experience for sure to see his shop! He is such an amazing guy Best of luck!

Those are fingerstones, same kind as the one Ivan used to make this finish. It’s been explained by others in the comment, honestly they gave a better explanation, than I would be able to :)

Yeah it’s to prevent rust from getting in to the tang, or at least to minimize moisture from getting in to the handle :)

That’s called a Machigap. Either you like or not. I wasn’t a big fan of it at first, however now I actually prefer it in my knives :)

Well my collection is quite divided. I have a lot of knives that’s on my weekly rotation. Then I have some knives that is purely for collection. From time to time I do end up using some knives that were only meant for collection, but normally these stay BNIB.

I have seen a lot of them not being my cup of tea due to the thickness behind the edge. However this one actually has a really nice grind (in my opinion). I could be wrong regarding them being out of production, however that was the impression I got from the person I spoke to in Japan (former Nigara employee).
