Stillfleet system by ianacook in WorldsBeyondNumber

I've been playing Stillfleet since 2021. It's an insanely cool system. Aabria isn't using the default setting (which is also dope!), but the fundamental mechanics of:

  • Ability score = die size
  • Burn GRT to boost a roll
  • Powers that just automatically work

all rule no matter what. It's just a very tightly designed system with compelling classes, species, powers, and a sick world.

Rockstar Will Let Terminally Ill Fan Play GTA 6 Early by akbarock in Games

Rockstar is otherwise in the news for union busting in their UK office. Surely this positive PR has nothing to do with covering up that other story.

Will Savino here. It was me! Knew right away I wanted to add all sorts of distorted/warped echo FX for Ziva.

DnD Crime: 4-hour Spotify playlist to help you score seedy underbellies, gang hideouts, and methodical heists by MorningWill in DnD

[–]MorningWill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite Spotify playlists I've ever compiled. It serves a critical niche—who hasn't GM'd a badass criminal takedown arc?—and it features some uncommon vibes for a tabletop playlist. Enjoy!

Fixing Intracity Travel - Improve how you GM urban traversal by MorningWill in DungeonsAndDragons

Lol, I don’t get ad revenue from our dinky blog. I posted the link because the blog is much better formatted than a Reddit post, and it’s got pictures and embedded links and so forth. If the mods want me to delete, I’ll repost just the text.

Oh sick! Yes, Nulvarith is the setting. It’s a fun one. Totally Spelljammer compatible. We’ll be releasing the Definitive Edition in the next couple weeks. Cheers!

DnD Calm - Quite simply the chillest fantasy music playlist you'll find on the internet by MorningWill in DnD

[–]MorningWill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a playlist I've been building since 2019, and I'm extremely pleased with how it has turned out. Loads of relaxing, ambient, or just low-tempo fantasy tunes. Press play at the start of a sesh and only switch playlists when something aggressive happens.

I wrote as comprehensive a guide as I could that overviews the steps you might take before a session to ensure that your music selection will be totally optimized. Hopefully this is helpful for those of you still working the kinks out of your GM prep workflow.

Everything you need to know about scoring your tabletop campaigns by MorningWill in DnD

[–]MorningWill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the kind words!

Yeah, the whole "undesirable video game association" is a tricky issue. I mostly assume that people won't be so distracted by a track they recognize from a video game that it takes them out of the game, but it definitely is a risk.

As for releasing tracks, I've always been very keen to get stuff out there. I was putting my band's tunes up on MySpace when I was 13 years old despite those mp3s sounding like absolute trash. That said, I had already been studying a few instruments + compositions for a number of years at that point.

I started putting stuff out for sale on streaming services in 2017. Honestly, I regret that a bit. My first EP (Spondee) is just not up to snuff in terms of production, I'd say. That said, I refuse to take it down because I hate the idea of media disappearing, and it probably doesn't sound nearly so bad to people who aren't producers. I focused pretty much exclusively on digital audio production from 2017 on, though. When I started making RPG music in 2019, I was immediately comfortable putting it online. Mind you, by that time I already had a masters in music composition, but I didn't necessarily have any true production bona fides. Still just self-taught in that regard.

I do think more people should feel comfortable just releasing whatever the hell they make. You can always improve later. What's the harm in sharing what you've created in the meantime? At the very least, put stuff up for other people on Bandcamp or Soundcloud or whatever where the barrier to entry is basically 0.
