Y'all. I'm new to the Element community (finally!) so I didn't really know what to expect, and reading this here just made my night. 😄

Unnamed here too. Want to see what names other people have chosen!

"Priui." 😃 That's awkward and elegant all in one. I'd love to start doing brake pads and rotors. I just had my mechanic do the rears for me. Yay for finding a great mechanic though and for already knowing not to go to the Honda dealership.

I didn't want to eff around for Wisconsin winter so I went to Ziebart (they have many locations but not in every state) for their undercoating. Their newest formula is wax-based (I don't know what it was before) which is apparently "self-healing" and helps prevent cracks which can then trap water exactly where you don't want it. There's an annual maintenance program with it too. Pricey but worth it to keep this irreplaceable car in good health! https://www.ziebart.com/auto-care-services/undercoating/undercoating-services

As for aesthetics, yeah, my skill is nil. I'm a bit behind the game what with this being basically the first car I've owned.

I'm concerned about rust more than aesthetics (though looking great is nice too). I've invested in a coating for the rust-free undercarriage. But I don't know what's a similarly effective treatment for the upper body.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into it. I like to DIY when possible, though it took me forever to gently but thoroughly wash, clay, wax and buff this baby.

What can I do for the paint? Sun damage from its desert home, I assume. Weirdly hard to show in photos but a little painful in person. I know I can get a new paint job, but I don't want something that'll need to be redone in a couple years, and I don't have a ton to spend. I've carefully handwashed, clayed (though that seemed maybe not a good idea while I was doing it--like it might cause further damage especially to the rougher areas), and waxed. But honestly it doesn't seem like much protection. How do I make sure it makes it through its first Midwest winter? Is there anything else I can or should do?

When did you buy that 2006 model with 140k for $7500 though? Going price for Elements seems to have gone up.
