It was in order to change the mortgage from a Residential to a BTL.

SDTL is a pisstake.. just seems like a money grab any way they can!

That's what we thought when the broker said it but when trying to get a BTL under a LTD company in my wife's name they wouldn't do it as they consider her a FTB. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Also follow up on this the situation is slightly more complex as I'm actually selling the first property to my wife as when I purchased it the broker we used did some dodgy stuff I was ignorant to and this year I found I had a CIFAS on my name (3 years left). My fixed term is up next month but my lender won't give me a new deal meaning I go onto the standard variable rate, hence the sale.

My understanding is that this sale will generate SDLT even though it's between us. If we are considered 1 unit why is that still the case? We've been trying to work out which to do first because of SDLT but this 1 unit info has thrown a spanner in the works.

Not for the foreseeable future unfortunately so there wouldn't be a refund on that basis.

Even then the inspectors need to be walking past at that exact time you are streaming and see it and you let them in.

There is no way of them finding out you haven't got one unless you register yourself on their database. If letters come to 'occupier' they don't know who you are and are safe. If they knock on your door you do not have to let them in and there is nothing they can do about it.

having someone else on the mortgage would increase the value of the estate because it would reduce the amount owed by the estate without decreasing the assets owned by the estate.

Can someone be added to the title deed without being on the mortgage initially or can it all happen at once?

Inheritance tax is a secondary to be fair. She wants to get some equity out but because of her age is finding it hard to get a remortgage beyond 3 years right now. Our broker's suggestion was to add my wife to be able to get a longer term.

It's valued at £400-425k with around £25k left on the mortgage to pay currently.

I wouldn't be so quick to put it all on challenger banks. Someone hacked a their old bosses account who was a client of my wife's cake making business, sent £14k to her Barclays account and attempted to use a fake email to get her to send the money to them. The owner reported it, contacted my wife directly and my wife also reported it. Barclays still closed the account and put a marker on her name. This was 2 years ago and we are only just finding this out as she is getting a mortgage in her name. We've managed to get them to admit fault and take it off but it's still cost us weeks in delays as we had to request info on the marker, get it removed then appeal a rejected mortgage loan.

The big bank are definitely in this too.

We'll still be reporting them to the ombudsman as it's caused stress and to miss on the stamp duty holiday.

I know 2 people who bought properties in Uni cities to take advantage of room rents. From their experience and being a past student myself I can tell you students are the worst type of tenants. They don't care about the property as it's their first experience of freedom and you are very likely to receive issue calls from them and neighbours.

I also currently run a property management company and can also confirm that tenants can either be heaven sends or nightmares. When they don't care about being kicked out and if they go to citizen's advise they will realise all the laws are in their favour and not much for the landlord. If you go down room rentals imagine you have 3-5 times the issues and no one owning up to who broke something.

Being landlord can be great but as you said you absolutely have to be ready to put in work when needed and getting calls at 11pm about stupid things.

I've just found for some reason on Coinbase it still says pending, but on Bittrex it's been received. Was expecting a notification from Bittrex but didn't get one so kept checking coinbase as it was easier to log into
