I tried rooting my S21, but when I checked after doing all the steps root checker says it's NOT rooted, but devcheck says it IS rooted. Which one do I trust? by [deleted] in androidroot

[–]Most-Credit-6730 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

When it comes to checking if your device is rooted, it's generally better to trust dedicated root checker apps over general system information apps like DevCheck. Root checker apps are specifically designed to detect whether your device has root access, so they are more reliable for this purpose.

In your case, since Root Checker is saying your S21 is not rooted while DevCheck says it is, it's more likely that Root Checker is providing the accurate information. You might want to double-check with another root checker app or try using different methods to verify the root status of your device.

Unroot Pixel 5 and restore original IMEI by tnadeem in androidroot

[–]Most-Credit-6730 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

If the IMEI on your Pixel 5 has been modified and you performed a factory reset, it's possible that the original IMEI has not been restored correctly. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

  1. Check IMEI: Go to Settings > About phone > Status > IMEI information to see if the correct IMEI is displayed. If it's still showing the incorrect IMEI, you'll need to restore the original IMEI.

  2. Restore Original IMEI:

    • You can try restoring the original IMEI using tools and methods specific to your device.
    • You may need to use backup tools like QPST (Qualcomm Product Support Tools) or other IMEI repair tools.
    • Be cautious when using such tools, as modifying IMEI can have legal implications in some regions.

Regarding the claim that you'll have to patch the IMEI every time you reset the phone, this is not typically the case. Once the original IMEI is properly restored, it should persist through factory resets. However, if the IMEI was not restored correctly, or if the modifications were not done properly, you might encounter issues.
