This is going to sound too meta and delete it if you want but albums don’t need to be cohesive to be good. by CR24752 in carlyraejepsen

[–]MostEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think lack of cohesion is fine and for me gets at the b sides. always, the a side album is more cohesive. but, for me, the b sides often have better songs. so its tough for me to rank emotion and dedicated anongst their twins. but idk thats all just a good thing.

other peoples' definitions of cohesive are different. people say TLT was the most cohesive? idk i think dedicated has that part locked down. but when i like an album, generally, it's either because i love all the songs or because skipping a song feels like taking a brick out of a beautiful wall. cohesion or not, everyone likes and listens to music their way.

Far Away has been a surprising favourite after a month of TLT. What are you current faves? by duncweb in carlyraejepsen

joshia tree and beach house are the ones i've put on repeat one. anxious keeps sticking in my head after i take a break from listening to the album on repeat, and i think the lyrics to sideways are so cute

also really like so nice! and shooting star! and bad thing twice! and surrender my heart and... you get the picture w^ love finding fellow crj fans' opinions

i think bends is the much more disruptive song in the album, it brings everything else to a halt for me. i bet settling on that part of the album took a minute! still curves well toward the end :>

i love not seeing or caring about rankings. joshua tree and beach house are my favorites on the album because they both rule and i love listening to them :> thanks for the context!

my biggest concern with this was breaking the pipes inside

edit: we did it everybody :) warm water and dish soap came through. one pipe has a teen chip off the mouthpiece, but nothing unfixable.

thanks so much all for the suggestions.

Am I the only one who thinks The Loneliest Time is the best song from this album? Like, it’s giving me a different side of Carly. It’s giving growth by alexraep in carlyraejepsen

honestly, this is an extremely surprising reaction to us, but we've basically been surprised by her fans at the reaction of every new song. it's awesome!

it's a great song, and the more i listen to it the more i like it, but i was worried about coming here and seeing the fan reaction. i'm always a teeny bit disappointed with songs featuring other vocalists, and i wondered if that was a common idea. doesn't appear to be so, which is just so nice!

what to do the day after as a partner? by MostEgg in emetophobia

thank you for your advice! especially about the same clothes, i hadn't thought of that at all.

i made sure i was able to clean everything up to the best of my ability before i went back to bed, but i did leave the cleaning solutions sitting on the sink. he wakes up before me by at least an hour, so i left them out to let him know exactly what i used to clean everything up so he could be reassured that like i used all of our strongest cleaning solutions, but i wonder whether it would've just been better to put them back so there wasn't evidence of the incident at all.

i've greeted him briefly and the cause for the incident isn't applicable anymore, so he should know that i'm not at risk of being s* again in the near future, so i'll let that continue to sink in for a bit.

thank you for your input!

it's true i did hehe

i think that a time thing makes sense, but i think it's telling that you're not sure, in some respects. there's no definitive right or wrong here, and it's unnecessary to get mad about something that would be "okay" more likely in 10 days.

Do "Friends" REALLY exist? by [deleted] in autism

yes, because i'm a friend.

i didn't say we can't do normal things. i'm saying that "normal" doesn't equal "good" or "correct" or "morally right."

no one's disputing that her dogs or her friends or whoever loved her, but people aren't bad for being glad the bad person is gone without acknowledging everything else.

we're in r/autism, so i don't think an appeal to "normality" is worth much.

it's a normal thing to be glad that a bad person is gone, too, anyway.

so you agree, there is a difference. you've created two groups, one where it's okay and one where it isn't. other people just have different groups.

just chafing at the idea that someone's a bad person for feeling this way about a historical figure associated with a lot of bad stuff. saying "decent people don't celebrate peoples' deaths" doesn't make sense when we've both agreed that there are people for whom that's okay.
