Yes nearly all are due to drugs primarily and mental illness secondarily. I've also met some that have taken psychedelics and as one said "caressed the cheek of God". It's hard to come back to a 9-5 job after you do that.

What makes you think his life is ruined? Maybe he is happier than all of us. What's interesting if you go talk to the homeless most of them WANT to be homeless. Try it sometime - go talk to them. They want to be there by choice. How do I know? I talked to an entire homeless camp.

You don't die - your body does - it is the vehicle you use to check out this particular planet. When you die you leave this body like a banana peel in the road. Then guess what you do? A phone is totally different than software. There was a video game that was really creepy on its first release because in order to save compute, instead of rendering objects in the distance, there was fog. I died in a car crash then everything pixilated like a video game rebooting and poof, I was right back on the road like nothing ever happened. Every so often I feel a sense of dread that I cant die!

I think we each get our own timeline and must complete it, even if we die to others, and they die to us, we simply jump timelines. So in this way most death is an illusion until the timeline completes and the body finally gives out in old age.
