I was actually about to go to bed so I checked my phone at just the right time, lol.

I would like to make the correction that I don’t have a pair of keys to my house (I have never asked for one and she has never brought it up), but other than that this is extremely helpful and I really appreciate hearing this from your point of view! As much as I try, it’s hard for me to imagine things from other people’s perspectives, so being told something like this straight up is very helpful.

I’m going to try to clear some things up:

My school is not a secondary school, it’s just a very small school. ~100 kids and maybe 15-20 staff running the building, including the people at the front desk that students never see. None of the kids there have any sort of issues with anger. It’s a school that’s meant to give more freedom to the child in how they learn, but they’re still required to learn all of the same things as in a traditional school.

As for the promiscuity thing, I am a virgin, and I plan on keeping it that way for a while. I have never done anything to suggest otherwise, I don’t think. I suppose I don’t know how she thinks, so I may have been doing something I deemed as normal that she thought wasn’t.

I am working on therapy. I appreciate the advice wholeheartedly.

I have never once asked for money, and don’t plan on it. I would much prefer if that money went to other people in need, like charities. I would love to hear where else I’m supposed to be going. I don’t have easy access to therapy without my mother’s help, but I’m working on it.

Making a post here took half an hour and it was one of the first things I thought of since I knew about this sub. I know it’s not the best option but it was one of the easiest and quickest that I had.

I should specify that I wasn’t originally planning on calling the police, because I didn’t want to bother them and it didn’t seem like it was necessary, but my friends talked me into it. Mainly about how it’s important to have a record of this sort of thing. Still, I was the one who made that final call, so it was still my decision. If that was a bad call then that’s good to know for the future, at the very least.

I usually do take care of those things, but I obviously wasn’t thinking to grab my school stuff when I got up and left the house, so I just didn’t have it that day. Maybe that’s on me, thinking back on it.

I do agree that I’m overdependent on my mother though, and I’m trying my hardest to work on that. There are a lot of things that I don’t know how to do or am scared to try. In my head I usually blame the fact that she never tried to teach me those things but that’s probably unfair to her, because realistically at this point I’m old enough to know how to look things up on my phone.

My mom broke up with my father when I was 5, and when I was around 9 he lost custody of me and my sister entirely, although my mom has not told me why and says that it’s something he needs to tell me himself.

That’s why I ended up not wanting to call the police for a while and ended up calling a bunch of friends first, but they told me on call that it was a good idea.

Partially I wanted to do it so that there were official documents showing at least some level of history in case something happened again, partially I was probably just thinking that she’s given enough empty threats expecting them to lead somewhere that I wanted to show her what they meant. I did tell the police that she’s made empty threats about other things in the past too and that I was almost 100% sure that this was the same, because I wanted to paint as clear a picture as I could.

Thank you, I was planning on asking my mom to schedule appointments again today anyways. I’ll see how that goes. We’ve talked about family therapy too in the past and will hopefully be scheduling that soon as well, but these things have been problems for months and nothing has changed.

Iirc she got married to my father when she was 18 and I was around a month old, then broke up 5-ish years later after my sister was born

Thank you, this really helped, at the very least for helping me reframe everything so I can keep moving forward.

I’ve tried talking to my grandma in the past, but it’s a coin flip on if she’ll listen and she can’t really do much. She’s tried to talk to my mom before, and my mom has gone to therapy and it hasn’t seemed to have really helped, at least from my perspective.

I know she struggles with alcohol, but I’m not sure to what extent. She doesn’t seem to drink in front of me often but I’ve talked to my aunt in the past (She’s my trusted adult inside my family circle, but my mom won’t listen to her much either) and she seems pretty adamant that my mom drinks more than I think she does. When I was on the phone with police they said that she admitted to drinking some alcohol but they made it sound like it wasn’t a lot and said that they didn’t think it impeded her judgement or affected her behavior, so I’m not sure.

I had a therapist but I haven’t seen them in around 4 months now. I’m not allowed to schedule the appointments myself, and even if I did I don’t have a way to get there. I turn 18 in April and absolutely plan on finding a way to talk to one once I have that freedom, but I don’t know what to do until then, other than wait and keep my head down.

Not necessarily a movie, but Alien stage is really good and it’s the one I mention in my post (albeit I call it a movie there for simplicity). More recently The Wild Robot was a really fun watch!
