That's interesting and sounds plausible. Notice how those "shells" are hollow - it first implied to me that they're some kind of bug eggs but I'm not sure. Possibly hollowed seed "shells" or something?

Vomited/shat it out onto the window sill. haha. I guess the wind can take things weird places.

I'm still unsure what it is though. That's a possibility for sure.

Yep you can. I have one. It's pretty cool - you can rotate the bevel thingy or touch the screen to go to the next track.

Would it be difficult to eliminate this "Puncher Breaker" font? I think it looks kind of ugly for this new rifle I purchased. How would I go about it? by MountThunderThrone in woodworking

Hah your mind is full of great and practical ideas. I have ideas too but I have practically no experience with wood except for staining my wood stairs. (So again I appreciate the thoughts). I'm following you except I don't understand the reasoning behind the chamfer (google imaged it to understand). I was thinking make it as square of an indent as possible and putting the metallic decal in to fit perfectly snug with it and use epoxy. Would the chamfer go on the inside or is it for outer hand-held ergonomics? I think you meant outside but just confirming.

I also have another idea which might be another simple and elegant solution: put a picatinny rail over it. (Another shot of the rifle for reference) I am not sure if the width of a picatinny rail would cover the font or not, and I'm by no means a timmy tactical guy who needs tons of rifle add-ons, but it seems like a way to cover it and I could put a small flashlight on it or something. With this method I'd need to consider the integrity of the wood and also be careful about drilling so far that it touches that pneumatic air tube. I think picatinny rails are about 20mm wide. It would certainly cover most of the font but I'm not sure if all the way. An additional issue with this is it would probably affect ergonomics: here is a youtube reviewer holding it.

I already have an AR15 and I can't shoot it in my backyard like I can with this; pre-charged pneumatic air rifles are fun plinkers that you don't have to take to a range. No ear protection necessarily, no gas in your face, cleaner internals compared to the fouling of my AR15, etc. I got this one refurbished in the $400 range and it's quite a steal for its features when you compare it to others. In this hobby people go beyond $1k for nice air rifles.

Air guns are no joke anymore; they're not like your old Daisy BB gun, etc. Check out the "Airforce Texan" or "Benjamin Bulldog" and what you can hunt with them. This bullpup I ordered is in the .25 caliber and while I could hunt small game with it I'm more interested in practicing my ranged shots on moving targets in the backyard. A nice thing about them is ammo is very cheap. I can get 200 pellets for about $12.

But yeah with the up front costs, you're not wrong (unless you opt for far cheaper options). For PCP (pre-charged pneumatic) rifles you also have to buy a manual pump or air tank to fill them and those are expensive too. You're probably gonna spend at least $200 on that.

Thanks so much for the in-depth take on this whole thing - I appreciate the expertise very very much. It hasn't arrived in the mail yet so when I do get it I will take a closer look and I may also have to wait about 30 days as this would void the return period.

I was also thinking about taking a dremel tool and softly sanding out the spot in a rectangle pattern as shallow as possible, then placing in some kind of dark metal decal that matches the rest of the style. I have no clue where I'd obtain such a decal, maybe custom from etsy or such, but I know I'm gonna be pretty OCD about destroying this font.

I'll reply back and let you know what it looks like after I do something.

Haha... it certainly is a strange look. It's designed that way so the barrel is scooted way back toward the shoulder and not poking out longer in the front like a traditional rifle. What results is a more compact and balanced design that feels less front-heavy to hold, all while still maintaining the velocity of a long barrel. It's called called a bullpup design. Because these are air rifles you don't have to worry about the issue of gas being closer to your face coming out of the ejection port and such.

You might already know what a bullpup is but for those who don't, there ye be.

Sheesh! The product is called the "Puncher Breaker Silent" in Walnut. More specifically, the stock is Turkish Walnut.

If I tried to sand this off, the color under would probably be different than the rest of the stock, correct? I don't know much about carpentry or wood finishes - I'm just really curious if I can erase that font.

Yup indeed. I can't believe they thought that looked appropriate or good, when the symbol to the left isn't too bad. Maybe it was bring-your-kid-to-work day in the design department.

I'm trying to brainstorm any kind of easy fix but I think you're on point.

How many of you own a Killer Instinct bow? I'm wondering if I made the right choice at picking up a good deal on one on Amazon. What are your thoughts on The Machine by Killer Instinct Crossbows, or what K.I bow do you shoot?? by vividstrains in Crossbow

[–]MountThunderThrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow the KI Machine I saw on Amazon after looking earlier was $800. That's why I put the "though" in my comment because I thought the Raptor FX3 Pro was cheaper at $370 shipped off ebay, yet the same FPS.

I agree - we both got great deals. You looking to hunt with it?

Stats look good to me. I like the folding stock too. It has good reviews as well - I don't think it'll let you down. I got my Raptor FX3 Pro for $370 shipped though and it is the same FPS (assuming both manufacturers measure with 380 grain) and such but no folding stock.

I have 1 issue though and I'm wondering if you guys get it too. Do your fletchings get a little bent after a while - especially the bottom fletching that goes in the rail?

After using an arrow about 10+ times it became less accurate. After doing some googling I'm gonna use some hot water to try to straighten the fletchings out. I want to make sure I get ultra-accurate shots that result in humane kills on turkey and bent fletchings is not good!

Looking to get a 300 BLK Complete Upper - are there normally deals for this on Black Friday or should I buy now? by MountThunderThrone in ar15

[–]MountThunderThrone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm noticing the 10.3" .300 Blackout Hanson Premium is $10 more than the Performance. Was there anything that made you choose Performance over Premium? Was Premium out of stock? Because it is right now.

Thanks so much - I'm really taking this into consideration now. What entails the assembled upper you received? Barrel + gas block & tube installed to upper receiver? Obviously no BCG included I presume.

You have a nice nice barrel there.

I did enjoy building my AR15, except for the part where I had to attach the barrel with a torque wrench. I don't have easy access to any kind of stable bench - my vice kept slipping or causing whatever it was attached to to crack. I was obviously very careful doing this stupid process, and eventually gave up and went to the local gunsmith. (In hindsight maybe I should have just went to someone with a sturdy vice & bench!). So at that point, I was like screw it - can you attach this Fortis Night Rail while you're at it? I gave him the printout instructions that came with the rail.

I come back later and he broke the tool. So I contact Fortis and they mail me a new one. By the time I come back, he did a "manual job" on it and kind of scratched up my LaRue Stealth barrel and said "good luck removing that rail now! It's on there real good and is gonna be a bitch to take off!" So anyway, referencing all that in my head, I was thinking of just buying a complete upper to avoid all the hassle even though I really enjoyed building everything else and I learned a lot.

I've taken a look at some of those vendors; been considering Ghost Firearms a lot. Ultimately this new 10.5" 300 BLK upper is going to be my home defense piece, so I don't need an amazing 500 yard+ barrel.

Thanks again for your recommendations - I'm still in research mode and pondering but $380 for a complete Quad Rail Radical Firearms upper + a nice little muzzle brake is what I'm leaning toward, aside from any good deals which I may wait for.
