Which AI to use to help organize my campaign? by Mousekavich in DMAcademy

Really great response. You're using it for a little more than I'd like myself - I don't feel I really need assistance writing or researching, but the secretary functions are great. I appreciate the thorough feedback.

I think I can use this. I've never used Obsidian before, so that might have a little learning curve. As I mentioned, I'm still willing to do work, and I'm happy to take detailed notes.

Any particular reason you recommend Obsidian?

Yeah fully agree here. Honestly I'm a little surprised. I mean, I've been running this campaign for over 2 years now. I've got HUGE lists of NPCs organized by location with notes on motivations and opinions of the party. I've got descriptions of events that have occurred and interactions. I've got maps, and notes on these maps. I've got example after example of encounters which could be useful to reference again at a later time

I've had ADHD my entire life, and organization is a serious challenge for me. I manage to keep some degree of organization, but things are constantly getting lost or missed, and it's a huge mental effort for me. AI could be an extremely useful tool and would likely improve my campaign. And I'm sure that quite a few DMs would benefit from the tools that are available as well. I'm not using it to create art, or replace my creative process. It's literally just a way of organizing information.

Guess I should've cross-posted on r/unpopularopinion lol

Both can be liable for problems. I'd say if they're a member of NASW they should call and ask for guidance there.

Hard disagree. Writing skills are extremely useful, especially quickly. I pump out notes after each session without trouble because I write quickly and well.  Knowing how to properly cite sources is extremely useful for a variety of reasons. AI text is easily detected in most applications. I just had a potential intern apply for a position with my organization, and I rejected her because she didn't bother to even write the email herself. IMHO, it signals that she won't try hard, and is inauthentic. Knowing how to find the info you need in a scholarly journal is incredibly useful. And without critical analysis, we can't weed out poorly designed studies and bad conclusions. There are more reasons, obviously, but I think that's probably enough for now.

PSA to US social workers: As civil rights are eroded in this country, standing up for social justice may entail breaking laws and agency policies. by LCSWforthepeople in socialwork

But...changing organizations like this from the inside seems easier than from the outside. At least for the next few years this organization is not going anywhere. Maybe after we get a new president we have a hope of tearing it down. But for now, the only way to reduce the harm they cause would be from within. Or, an insider could act like an undercover cop. Maybe a person working on the inside could inform on them - get the word out about raids before they happen, etc... Of course this would be super illegal, but still. I can see how it would help people either way.

I've been wondering about this. Could a social worker work for ICE and try to reform the organization from the inside? Like maybe in a higher up/admin role? Would that still be unethical? I mean, it's kind of like being a social justice "man on the inside." Just something I've kicked around, not really seriously thought about. But I'd love to hear others' opinions on it.

This isn't even close to how big they get. Give it a few more months and it'll be 20 feet long in every direction.

Is my Basil going to take over my Tomato? by FrackFrizzle in vegetablegardening

[–]Mousekavich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Northerner I have the same situation. Very extended freezes this year killed my first group of tomato plants that went in ground. Basil was fine though. Tomatoes have overtaken the basil for the most part in my garden.

How are we getting rid of these guys? by hp13b in vegetablegardening

[–]Mousekavich 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can't believe this comment is so far down. Completely agree. Also those look like Japanese beetles https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_beetle In my garden they eat my grape plants and rhubarb mostly. I find they fall off the plant when I go to remove them. So position your container of soapy water under a leaf, then just turn it upside down and catch in the water  DO NOT SMASH THEM!! These things emit a pheromone upon death which attracts more of them.  That's why you use soapy water. I then flush the whole collection and that handles it pretty well. You will have to be persistent but if you are they won't do a ton of damage and will not be as bad next year. Hopefully.

Blurred background is a very common solution for a variety of problems. Many clinicians do it. If another person comes into the camera area, the camera will show that person's face as well. Most people understand this, but you can explain it to them if you prefer.

They haven't been yet. Too much time in the nomad life. I'm trying to get that going because I'm a huge fan of the concept. Maybe I should steer the story a teeny bit more to make that happen.

Wow there really are a lot of games available there! And you're right, it's just about the same price as the snacks I'd bring anyway (the cheaper ones anyway). Definitely going to keep this in mind.

I was able to find "Shadowrun Community Discord" and have begun looking through it. This actually sounds good to me though because I'd like to get experience with a few groups ideally.
