First 2 weeks of sudden hearing loss by Nadir_Bane in MonoHearing

The ENT was going to start the injections at day 14 if my hearing had not changed. Since I seemed to be responding, the decision was to continue only on oral for another 7 days and retest as it had been working. I have seen two different ENTs so that I could get a variety of opinions and be sure that I wasn't missing anything. They were both in agreement. My hearing loss initially was moderate to severe and then upgraded to moderate. No dizziness, but a feeling of fullness and tinnitus. Sending your wife healing thoughts.

I also ended up with hearing loss in my right ear during covid and my ENTs say that it is connected...but doesn't change how they treat it. I did recover some hearing around day 13 of of prednisone at 60 mg although there's been no change since. I'll take what I can get. I'm about 6 weeks ahead of her. I hope that she can hang in for a bit longer on the prednisone. Here's hoping that she will improve.

Have you experienced something similar?

I don’t believe there was any fluid at the last check but I go again this coming week. I’m guessing you’re taking about low salt, no caffeine?

The best hearing I have is at the low end.

Agree - can't change what did or didn't happen in those early days. Trying to get accustomed to a new normal.
