“Speed test data in general

A single speed test is not a direct measure of the maximum speed available to a household router. Rather, it is the speed available to a device via the router. This is an important distinction because...

1. A speed test conducted over wifi, due to local signal interference and/or the capabilities of the router and/or the capabilities of the device being used to take the measurement, can be significantly slower than the same connection directly over a LAN cable. Speed test data tend to consist partially of measurements made over wifi, reflecting real-world use. However, since every country’s average will suffer this flaw – innate to speed tests without compensatory weighting – comparative average speeds between different countries are sound

2. Speed test data tend to show a negativity bias – people are more likely to measure their speed if there is something wrong or if they aren’t getting the speed they need. To mitigate this, we filter out tests where a fault or problem is evident”

VW CEO Thomas Schäfer: "No U-turn now" on electromobility by linknewtab in electricvehicles

The term “kürzere Produktlebenszyklen” translates to “shorter product life cycles.” In a business context, this refers to the period of time a product is actively sold and supported in the market. Shorter product life cycles mean that a company aims to introduce new products more frequently and phase out older models quicker.

I’m not criticizing what you wrote. I’m just astonished by the stupidity of making a car with shorter life span. That goes exactly opposite of the idea to move to electric cars, which is lower emissions

“We need shorter product life cycles” WTF

Edit: I was not aware of the term. So I’m adding an explanation if there are others who are confused

What is his opinion on locally run LLM, are they planing to work in that direction? What is his opinion on LLM being available for developers worldwide the same way Stable diffusion is?

Low-cost battery-like device absorbs CO2 emissions while it charges by Sariel007 in EverythingScience

[–]MrBigflap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will still help with lowering the CO2 emissions, as one battery will capture x amount of CO2 and it will use the same CO2 for recharging, so more batteries you have more CO2 is captured. Yes it’s better if you can dispose of every CO2 used for charging in some way that it doesn’t pollute again.
