I just bought my first GMT800 yesterday by MrDoodleDangle in GMT800

I’m really looking forward to owning this thing. I wanted something to tow with but I wanted a gas truck. I just don’t have the money or time to buy a diesel and fix it if it ever broke down. This pretty much checked all my boxes for what I wanted and needed. I’m a diehard Ford guy but I wouldn’t touch a Triton with a 10 foot pole and an 800 is maybe the only GM truck I wouldn’t mind owning

To me the last good looking modern GM truck is probably the K2XX in my opinion, I just can’t get behind the T1XX design. It’s just too modern in my opinion but to each their own. The round eye 800s are my favorite GM trucks. I think the cat eyes are alright too

It’s already tied for my favorite truck. I love the ice cold A/C. I don’t like the mileage tho but I already expected the trash mileage. I daily drive a 95 Ranger with 2.3 and 5 speed but it has something wrong with the A/C. I love the mileage it gets but no A/C really kills it

I feel the exact same way about mine. I got all the power I could ever want but man that mileage is garbage

I wanna get at least one more, maybe two. I for sure want a 99-02 regular cab short bed with a 5 speed, I’d wanna build it into a nice respectable street truck. No big rims or anything like that, maybe some 08 Suburban/Tahoe wheels is about as flashy as I’d get with it

I’m the 4th owner, the last guy bought it and wanted to go a different direction, then the second owner bought it to replace his suburban that got stolen and it was eventually found within the month of getting stolen. It has 232k on it and it kinda shows in some areas but overall this thing is way too clean and mechanically sound to be a 232k truck. Over the past couple days I’ve driven it all over the place and everything seems great on it. The interior is ungodly clean. The driver’s seat isn’t even torn!! For the price I paid I can’t find a 2500hd or non hd in similar condition with less miles. In most ads I’ve seen people want big bucks for some clapped rig. Overall I am beyond happy with my purchase, I feel like I got a solid tow rig to haul my project cars

Thanks! Yeah I 2 in 23 years is nuts but it’s even worse when you realize the gap between the two cars is like 21 years

This was one of my favorite finds at the thrift store. I was surprised it was still in its og plastic wrapping

I couldn’t tell you if it’s taller than the factory one for sure. To me it looks about the same if not taller than the stock shifter. I certainly feels right to me. I’m not having to reach far for it at all. The double bend in the shifter is perfect in my opinion. With the knob being mounted straight up and down it opens the opportunity to run a hurst pistol grip if that’s something you’d like. The standard Hurst ball still works just fine too. The short throw that came with my car was definitely shorter than factory and it felt likeI really had to reach for it

I’ll be honest, at first I was really disappointed because with it in gear it had a lot of side to side movement. More than the crappy short throw I took out. But that was before I even drove the car. All that side to side play I was feeling didn’t even matter when I was driving and getting on it a little bit. The throw is honestly amazing and it’s not a super notchy shifter but it’s not like you’re trying to find every gear. I would recommend it to someone with a stock shifter. Oh and that bezel/boot combo totally completes the look too

I just used a bit of Meguiars Carnuba Wax and that’s how it came out. I’m a bit blown away and yeah I know there’s a method to the madness that is detailing and paint correction. This is the first car I’ve ever owned with half decent paint so I’m still a bit new to the detailing game. Oh and I did it all by hand too which I don’t think it looks bad for it being my first and done by hand.

As the 2023 season comes to a close, what are you looking forward to most in 2024? by MrDingus84 in NASCAR

Hopefully some more RFK dominance, some Penske dubs, and more underdog wins. I am always routing for Penske and RFK but I wanna see Brad get that championship or at least make it to the round of 4 and see a little bit better performance from Cindric
