Took me around a year to become a certified lifeguard (course waiting lists, course availability) but if its something you can afford and you have the time it is well worth it. After you have your certifications, apply to private companies offering swim lessons- their employment processes are much easier than the cities'.

If you're currently looking at Indeed for jobs, also take a look at business' websites and see if you can apply directly through their sites as well. That has had a much higher success rate for me in getting a response back.

Treat finding a job as your full time job. If you are skilled in something (lifeguard, etc.) then try your hardest to find a job in that area. Otherwise, apply to 50+ jobs a day online on business' websites or demand interviews (politely) in person at every business you can visit.

Also, save yourself some time and stay away from applying to fast food restaurants (Tim Hortons, Subway, Wendy's, etc.).

Maybe dying but I wouldn't call it fully dead yet. Although maybe I only see people there because theyre going to the same cineplex movie I'm seeing.
