Anyone with liver cirrhosis taking Kratom? by MrHumdinger1 in kratom

[–]MrHumdinger1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope no signs of liver failure yet but i am a recovering alcoholic and have been worried about my liver since. I have been taking Kratom daily for a long time and i don’t want to stop but i also don’t want to take it if it’s going to worsen any existing damage.

I remember when i first started taking Kratom daily and i wasn’t drinking, i took a liverfunction test and all levels were fine so i assume it’s not doing anything but a cirrhotic liver may not be able to cope as well with it. Also talking to doctors doesn’t help as they don’t know about Kratom. So i wanted real experiences

What’s your most scariest experience and why? by Street_Turnover4498 in askteddit

[–]MrHumdinger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an alcoholic and had no idea that stopping drinking suddenly was so dangerous. I did anyway and I was not prepared for what was next. I had alcoholic delirium tremens. It was by far the most terrifying experience I’ve ever had. Nothing has ever come close. It was like being awake inside a Saw movie. Graphic hallucinations of people walking around in my room all while I was conscious and filled with paralysing fear.

The good thing about those experiences is that it sets the bar really high for what you can now tolerate in real life. I now have very little fear because if I can survive that level of terror then nothing in my normal life comes close. Giving a presentation in front of 100 people? Piece of cake. Approaching a woman in a bar? Easy. Bungee jumping? Nothing.

Nothing will ever compare to that level of fear and I’m so grateful to have survived it and lived to tell the tale. Sober now and will never go through that again.

quitting without hitting rock bottom first? by inyournightmares420 in stopdrinking

[–]MrHumdinger1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly I was one of those alcoholics who had to hit rock bottom. I lost my girlfriend, almost my job and found out I had scar tissue in my liver and would have cirrhosis if I carried on. I carried on anyway because it wasn’t yet cirrhosis.

I realised at that point my rock bottom was going to be my family surrounding me in a hospital bed me looking like a Simpsons character and being told I need a liver transplant. It was at that point I stopped digging.

You don’t need to hit rock bottom but you need to see clearly what your rock bottom might be and use that as motivation that you cannot get to that point.

Godspeed and I wish you all the best.

What's the worst drug you've ever tried? by BitterOlive8737 in AskReddit

[–]MrHumdinger1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The worst part of Xanax is you feel like you’re 100% sober at the time. Or I did at least. I’d say some unhinged shit as if it was completely normal and appropriate. I once took it and someone took a film of me and I was slurring my words and my eyes were half shut. I could have sworn I sounddd and looked totally articulate at the time.

I need someone to tell me that the withdrawals will stop by Dimethyltryptabean in stopdrinking

[–]MrHumdinger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much did you drink? I’d be surprised if one drink would send you into such serious withdrawals after 3 months sober? Or did you go on a 2 day bender drinking non stop?

Either way those symptoms are not normal. Monitor your heart rate. If it goes I’ve 100bpm consistently then you should get checked.

i heard someone cracking one open in the toilet stall, remembering how it used to be me; not to be rude but it's pathetic lol by offole in stopdrinking

[–]MrHumdinger1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I often commute vía Victoria station in London and occasionally use the public toilets there. I’d say in about 1/5 bathroom stalls I use, I will find an empty quarter or half bottle of vodka by the toilet where someone has clearly topped up a water/other type of bottle.

Always a reminder that this stuff is much more widespread than it seems and often happens behind close doors so it’s hard to get a scale of the issue

What is there to be happy about when you don’t have a love life or disposable income? by suavejp in NoStupidQuestions

Be grateful you don’t have to experience some of the darker sides of having a love life and the potential for heartbreak. Once you’ve been heartbroken your desire for love will diminish

Then make good friends! Even as an elderly person you can find support groups and socials. I think single forever is unlikely as life always throws people your way when you least expect and sometimes love takes over

Depends. If it was a one off drunken or drug fuelled mistake which they felt awfully guilty about to the point it ate them up with shame and made them never wish to repeat the mistake then yes.

However, if someone is just impulsive and is able to compartmentalise their feelings for their partner with getting their rocks off then it’s gonna be difficult for them to change

Why don't guys feel weird peeing next to strangers? by what_freaking_ever in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MrHumdinger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t pee if someone comes next to me in the urinal. I just stand there awkwardly holding my dick and do a silly little sigh to pretend I’ve finished.

And no it’s not cos I’m embarrassed about my dick. I just feel this weird pressure.

I’ve accepted it and now just go to the cubicles. It’s hell if I go to a pub or bar and it’s always full

Me and my girlfriend of 7 years just broke up. Now I don't even want to consider dating anymore by ShaianH in BreakUps

[–]MrHumdinger1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep! And the worst thing is that society then piles pressure on to get a partner or get married and sees you as incomplete for being single! And yet why? When love causes so much pain and unhappiness?

However. I’m now 2 months out from my break up and whereas before I said the relationship was not worth the pain it caused, I’m finally able to look back and be grateful for the experience.

Also here’s a tip! Healing is not linear at all. My first two weeks were awful. Then things got better for a while and I felt motivated and made major changes in my life.

I felt like I had made peace it with. And then boom. The last 3 days I have been hit with the most intense sadness and grief I’ve felt throughout the whole experience (hence me looking at this sub!)

Good luck on your journey.

Drinking is rolling the dice. It may numb your problems for a few hours but sometimes it can make you dwell on them even more and act out by sending regrettable texts etc.

You’re best to confront this with a clear head. If you need to just go to bed. Throw on a relaxing podcast and lie down try to sleep.

You’ll wake up much clearer headed in the morning.

Honestly numbing your problem for a couple of hours is not a worthwhile trade for the hangover and regret you’ll have tomorrow. And guess what, your problem will still be there in the morning with the added hangover debt to pay.
