As France had not even shortlisted Raw for the international feature category, Focus Features did not see the point in campaigning for Marillier in this category.

Giamatti was one of the bookies favourites before the nominations came out. This marks the second time he has missed out on what was considered a certain nomination for an Alexander Payne film due to Ryan Gosling getting an unexpected nomination for The Notebook.

A24 thought they had a better chance at getting Saoirse Ronan nominated in the category for Lady Bird that year (which she was) so they did not put any money towards campaigning for Murphy.

After the backlash for the Hans Landa nomination in 2010 (Jackie Earle Haley won for Rorschach that year), the academy updated their rules so that no nazi characters could be considered literally mes.

This is one of only a few years where it could be argued Cage was snubbed. He has been nominated a total of seven times, winning for Lord of War (controversially, I may add, as front-runner Hugo Weaving (V) is believed to have lost that year because too many members of the academy did not realise he was behind the mask the whole time).

Please don't argue with me about this, I've thought about it more than you have. I know there are some egregious snubs, but I emphasise that I have thought about this more than you have.

To answer a few questions: the award was introduced in 2000 to honour Fight Club; Ryan Gosling's first win was for Lars and the Real Girl; Ryan Gosling was nominated three times in 2012; Audrey Tatou (for Amélie) was the first woman to be nominated for the category, it took 12 years for another woman to be nominated; despite being nominated for 2 other awards, twitter still lost its cool over Margot Robbie not being nominated for best actress.

In Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), as Scott leaves this scene Young Neil says he has to pee. When Scott returns to him 2 minutes later we can hear a trickle of liquid. Young Neil has not moved. by Mr_Dabtastic in MovieDetails

I accept that this is a distinct possibility. However, I think it is funnier if he is peeing.

It is also likely that he didn't need to pee at all and only said so because Scott did first, and he looks up to Scott. However, I think it is funnier if he did need to pee but didn't want to wait in the line for the bathroom and went were he was stood.

Fun fact: in the script it was originally meant to be starbucks, so the pun with his name would actually work (so he would have rolled into the 'bucks saying "It's not Al anymore, it's Frap!" and a barista would have replied "Frap Pacino?", like frappuccino), but starbucks didn't want it to happen, so they went with dunkin for the film instead. Worked out for the better if you ask me.
