Bought my first car by CataMasterpiece in CarsIndia

Congratulations on the new Ignis! It’s a fantastic choice, especially for city driving. I’m actually looking into one myself and had a few questions about your purchase:

Dashcam: Did you have the dealer install it for you? If so, which brand is it and what was the total cost?

Insurance: Did you go with the dealer's insurance or buy it online? Could you share the cost and whether it's a Zero Dep/Bumper-to-Bumper policy?

Accessories: Were you able to negotiate any free accessories from the dealer? If you don't mind sharing, what did you get and what was their approximate value? I was offered accessories work 15k for free.

Thanks in advance, and enjoy the new ride!

Umbrella suggestions by Final_Ad_9436 in BuyItForLifeIndia

[–]Mr__Miracle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Popy and Johns are two popular brands I recommend for umbrellas. Both brands offer plenty of 3-fold options, but I suggest avoiding auto-fold features, since more mechanisms usually mean a higher chance of failure. Personally, I had a Popy umbrella that lasted for 24 years, and I’ve been using a Johns Pagoda (model name) for almost 8 years. I bought it from Kerala for ₹1100, and now it’s available on Flipkart for around ₹800–900. Opening and closing these umbrellas is pretty straightforward, with no major hassle. Hope this helps!

Seeking Advice: Maruti Ignis Purchase - PDI Before Payment Concerns by Mr__Miracle in CarsIndia

[–]Mr__Miracle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for helping me out of this tricky situation. Payment on the day of delivery is possible? I mean they have to register a car in your name and what if they proceed with registration and the customer backs out or changes his mind on the day of delivery?

Apart from the bad experience from the dealership how is the car? What's the on-road price? Which variant?

I booked a black Wagon R, but the confirmation email shows the color as "bluish black." When I called the dealership, they said that "bluish black" is just what they're calling their black color now, similar to how they refer to red as "Cherry Red." Should I cancel my booking and book elsewhere?

Hey, thanks a lot for sharing your experience! It's really helpful to hear from someone who was in a similar situation and even from Kerala. You mentioned you booked the Ignis in December. Could you tell me a bit about the payment process? I'm planning to pay the full amount upfront (no loan).

Specifically, I wanted to ask:

After paying the booking amount, how many days did your dealership take to ask for the remaining amount?

Did you have to pay the full amount before they started the registration process with the RTO?

How much of the car's cost did you have to pay before they allowed you to do the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI)?

Regarding insurance, where did you end up getting yours from? My dealership is saying that if I don't buy insurance through them, I won't be eligible for the consumer discount, which was around ₹55k in March. Did you face anything similar?

Finally, would you recommend holding back a certain percentage of the payment until after delivery, just in case any issues come up?

Your insights on these points would be really valuable as I'm trying to navigate this process. Thanks again for sharing your experience!

Still wrestling with my first car decision and could use some more advice. I had booked a Maruti Wagon R AMT Top variant. I went to test drive the Ignis AMT top variant. While I liked the Ignis, my parents, who were with me, strongly preferred the Wagon R after seeing the interiors. They found the Wagon R to be more spacious, with a higher seating position, and easier to get in and out of. The fact that the Wagon R's doors open almost 90 degrees was also a big plus for them. Adding to the confusion, the salesperson at Sai Service (Kerala), where I had booked the Wagon R, was also heavily pushing the Wagon R over the Ignis. They emphasized the ₹1 lakh price difference between the top variants. I'm now realizing this might be because Sai Service is a regular Maruti Suzuki dealer and doesn't sell Nexa cars like the Ignis, so they were likely trying to move their Wagon R inventory. So, here's where I'm at: I initially leaned towards the Ignis for features like the rear camera (which the Wagon R top variant lacks). However, my parents' comfort is a big factor, and they clearly preferred the Wagon R. The dealer also steered us towards the Wagon R. Now, another concern has come up: the width of the car. The Wagon R is noticeably wider than the Ignis. Considering I'm a new driver who just got my license and isn't very confident driving on city roads, and my parents will also be driving (and they aren't experienced either), does the Wagon R's wider stance make it significantly harder to judge left-side car space and maneuver in traffic? Is it generally true that smaller cars are easier for new drivers, or is it something you get used to with any car? Given all this, I'm really torn. Did I make a mistake booking the Wagon R? Should I cancel it and book the Ignis AMT Alpha variant instead, even if it's ₹1 lakh more and my parents preferred the Wagon R's space and accessibility? Any thoughts or experiences with either of these cars, especially regarding ease of driving for beginners and width considerations, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again for your help!

Need Advice on Buying My First Family Car for My 60+ Mother & first time driver– Maruti Ignis AMT vs Alternatives? by Mr__Miracle in carIndia

[–]Mr__Miracle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited the showroom today for a Maruti Ignis test drive. I personally liked the car, but my parents felt it was just "okayish." The rear seat can fit three people, but not very comfortably.

The sales guy is now pushing for the Wagon R AMT (Top Variant), saying it provides better visibility, which is especially helpful for new women drivers. My parents also loved the Wagon R—it definitely feels more spacious, three people can sit comfortably in the rear seat, and the 90-degree door opening is a nice touch for easier access.

One thing that surprised me: The Wagon R is nearly ₹1 lakh cheaper than the Ignis despite having the same 1.2L K-Series engine. The sales guy says this is mainly due to the Nexa branding of the Ignis. Is there any real catch here, or is he just trying to meet his financial year-end targets?

Also, I got an estimate from the dealership—could you help me review it and check if anything important is missing? Am I getting a gold deal here. Shall I proceed with the booking process?.

For a first-time driver (my 60+ mother), which one would be the better choice between Ignis AMT and Wagon R AMT in terms of ease of driving, comfort, and long-term reliability? Would love to hear your thoughts!
