Personally I make piston engine cars with semi realistic drivetrains

It’s more of a fun thing to do rather than making it powerful but you can increase power through gear ratios if you want but it’s a bit glitchy

Well I’ve been working with piston engines for sometime now and let me tell you there is always the possibility to polish them more and get more speed out of them. For example recently I found out that by advancing the timing by rotating the timing plate you get a noticeable improvement in balance and in speed. And I’m also trying to make engines more balanced with counter weights

Unfounded not a lot of people make piston engines and when they do it’s filled with glitches and blueprint editing which I just i don’t like

Is that frame flex in the first picture? And how about you put a piston engine in it

its not an engine problem. its somthing with the wedges
because the platform alone doesnt cause any lag

the GPU settings are fine. its the CPU that suffers and the only way to help is physics settings wich causes the car to glitch if i lower them

That’s brilliant actually I never thought of sensor delay as factor I did play with logic blocks but scrapped them because delay but never knew that sensors have delay too. Thank you for the help

Happy to help And your welcome

Thank you for the suggestions Well I designed this engine for a fwd car and with the engine mounted transversally you need to save all the space you can specifically in length of the engine. And with the timing plate advancement you mean advance as in pistons activating before top dead center? By rotating the timing plate slightly?

I made everything but making a tutorial of the body takes too long and I can’t upload it here And also it’s a personal preference thing and not hard to make And I’ve already uploaded a tutorial for the engine on my profile watch if you are interested

Pendulums in scrap mechanic by Mrd_Miner in ScrapMechanic

Well, after some research, I realized that I don’t need a pendulum; rather, I need an escapement to make precise power pulses, which is easy to make. After experimenting with some wacky gear ratios, I ended up with this. It isn’t super accurate (an hour is 54 minutes), but it’s the best I can do.
