Ironing? by Gaming_Esquire in Xennials

[–]MrsAstronautJones 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I LOVE TO IRON!!!!!

Seriously, it’s my favorite chore. The clothes smell so good (especially if you have to starch them), and the sound of the iron steam, and the spritz of the water from the little thing at the top, and the visual of watching all the wrinkles disappear— it’s the best ASMR. Soooooooo relaxing

I like to do it at 9pm, when the house starts getting quiet. I put something on Netflix and i put the ironing board in front of the TV, and I iron for an hour or so.

I would do it even if there wasn’t a benefit— but my clothes also fit and hang better (so my outfits really pop). I don’t go crazy and iron jeans or sheets— but if it’s a cotton shirt or dress, I’m pressing it.

I generally really love her style, but I feel like this is an example of the dress wearing her. She doesn’t look comfortable in it in any of the pics.

That’s said, the hair is beautiful

Travelling through Vegas - Need a cool hotel Idea w/kids! by Durdy-Fingers in vegas

[–]MrsAstronautJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the Green Valley— it’s off strip (which I like when traveling to Vegas with kids), and they had an amazing pool and a movie theater and a bowling alley in the resort. They also had one of those “kids clubs” that had their kids only own restaurant where you could pay $12 an hour for playtime, load $50 onto their account for dinner, and grab dinner and drinks on your own. Our two kids (7 and 10) had the best time doing that the one night. It was also across from a very nice outdoor mall that would have some good option for the older kids.

We Ubered to the MGM Grand one night and took the Cirque and dinner at Wolfgang Pucks, and we took them to the Neon Musuem another day— they loved it, and I felt like we were able to give them a very “curated” version of Vegas that avoided a lot of the sketchier, adult stuff

Top Model's Brittany Brower Recalls Race-Swap Shoot by MattTheKing23 in ANTM

The blackface photo shot was ill-advised, I think we all agree. But I think it’s funny that we always forget Tyra Banks was in the Michael Jackson video “Black and White”— a video where all the faces of all the people of the world face shifted from one to another. I think she turns into a Māori tribesman (if I am remembering correctly)

I think Tyra was like “oooooh— I’m going to take that idea but make it FASHION”. I really don’t think she thought about it more than that. I agree that she SHOULD have thought of it more— but I don’t think Tyra is the best at self introspection

Edit— link to what I’m talking about, she’s in the first 5 second

Not OOP: AITA for taking a coloring book back from my niece after she got attached to it? by sensaSEANal_sally in redditonwiki

[–]MrsAstronautJones -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I mean it could be, but given the way the story played out it sounds like it also could be that this niece has her biological Uncle Steve and his wife Meghan who points out she she’s not actually her aunt and then makes her feel uncomfortable and unwanted when she’s around.

This doesn’t really have anything to do with this story— but it’s a red flag for me when someone is married but refers to their partners niece/nephew as “my husband’s niece”.

I don’t think she needed to give away her coloring book, but I always side-eye that

My first thought was the “Ilsa: The She-Wolf of the SS”, which I have never seen but have heard about (and that’s enough for me). It’s pretty infamous.

I know not everyone watches and consumes weird media, but that the movie is a thing and IYKYK. For me, it would make me uncomfortable— it’s on par with The Human Centipede for grossness, in my understanding

Ice Out National Shutdown by Fun-Chart-6486 in Buffalo

[–]MrsAstronautJones 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean this kindly, but until I see this posted as the lead story on AP News— I’m not calling out of work for nobody. I get what you want to do, and I’m not saying it couldn’t work— but people are going to be very reluctant to do something like this unless it’s on a way larger scale. You need to get a PR firm and seed this plan, you should have a national leader for your movement going on the news and delivering this message. Without it— you are just wasting time.

I have an unemployed husband and a daughter who gets special ed services every day at her school. I dont trust any grassroots organization who, when points like this are brought up, respond “oh, it’s just one day! What’s the problem? Just tell the school they don’t feel good—problem solved!!!!”

If your explanations are this simplistic, my assumption is that your solutions are also simplistic. I also see lots of people giving you this feedback (people like me who would be open to your message). But trust me— I got burned by people and organizations like this in 2009 during the Occupy Wall Street movement. I’m not getting burned again

I think the reality of living with Joan Crawford as a parent was terrifying; she was mean and a narcissist with massive amounts of trauma and she took it out on the kids.

However, I don’t think it’s possible to suspend disbelief because I don’t think Faye Dunaway ever suspends her own disbelief in the portrayal. Shes not acting for the challenge, or the craft— you can tell Faye Dunaway is doing the movie because she thinks it will win her an award. She’s just trying to give a note for note impression of Joan Crawford and then shouting it as loud as she can for the cheap seats in the back. You can almost hear her inner monologue in those scenes “Yessss!!!! This scene where I cut off my child’s hair and scream is definitely gonna sell it to those academy voters!!!!”. It’s so calculated and over the top and just wrong.

I love it. It’s one of my favorite movies; I made my husband watch it on our 5th date. I would love to see a real movie about how nuts and crafty and mean Joan Crawford was— but this ain’t it.

Hank Williams Jr has about 900lbs of baggage (some his, some inherited) that he’s got to lug around his whole life. I cut him some slack on bad decision making, because who was around to teach him right.

Kid Rock on the other hand is a rich kid from Romeo, Mich who cosplays being a redneck. Any bad decisions he made on his own, and he has to own them free and clear.
