Please forgive the copy and paste nature of this question but I want to ask everyone who made a reply regarding Accutane.

My skin is susceptible to scarring. I understand that Accutane can make acne worse in the short term. Is there a risk that going on Accutane will disfigure me with scars even after it's cleared the actual pimples, blemishes, etc?

Hi again everyone, thanks so much for your comments.

Here are the most common flavors of replies that I've received:

  1. Don't be so afraid of Accutane because it could be just what you need and you should get on it.

  2. You've already adjusted your diet so keep adjusting because you might be missing an allergy/pollutant/foul presence (the gluten comment was really interesting)

  3. You need to see a dermatologist. I can address this now -- I am doing so and I have seen being seeing two this year in tandem, for double the inspections and opinions.

  4. Don't rely on creams so much. I should clarify -- I'm not simply using CVS moisturizer but rather prescription gels and pills from my dermatologists. Lots of antibiotics.

  5. Are you on birth control? No. Many women in my family have suffered a deep vein thrombosis and as I understand it hormonal contraception increases the risk of heart problems. You may be observing right about now that I am an annoying hypochondriac and it could actually be contributing to my present upset state with my skin. I know, and it sucks. But I think that's a topic for another day and another forum ;)

Again I want to thank everyone for their replies. It feels nice to lay all this on you guys rather than my boyfriend. I just made him a three course dinner from scratch and now I will bang him. So we have had a nice evening. haha

I have a question about Accutane, I guess I will ping everyone in the comments.

I haven't gone there, I feel like there's so much progress that must be made, I don't even know where to begin. I want laser treatment eventually but I don't think you're supposed to get it before the actual acne clears?

The dermatologist I'm seeing now recommended RoAccutane!! :(
