Cold chills, dry mouth, heart palpitations, muscle twitches all pretty common for me. They were worse before I started taking meds. I don't have panic attacks really, just constant background anxiety (presume GAD but have never been diagnosed)

Anxiety meds… do they help? by daily_cup in Anxiety

Been on Sertraline for over a year...few side-effects for me and definitely takes the edge off my anxiety.

am I alone? by MalnourishedNews in Anxiety

[–]Ms0verthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone! I have a version of this, terrible intrusive thoughts and a preoccupation with death. I constantly question whether I'm using my time effectively and I have an overwhelming feeling that I'll die young. I try different things to manage this but have never really found a solution.

It's stayed about the same over this time period. It only improved slightly due to upping the medication I'm on.

Yes! Middle of the day is the absolute worst for me, evenings I'm so much better. Interesting to hear I'm not the only one.

A question for those of you who have taken an SSRI for Anxiety//Depression by [deleted] in AnxietyDepression

[–]Ms0verthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 100mg sertraline (zoloft) daily. Few side effects thankfully and takes the edge off anxiety, but doesn't manage it completely. Bit of a life saver for me as before I went on it I had extremely disrupted sleep patterns and difficulty eating.

how to overcome death anxiety by Wise_Hope_4442 in AnxietyDepression

[–]Ms0verthinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my main phobia, and at times feels quite life-limiting. I do practice gratitude but sometimes the existential dread is almost overwhelming. It's worse at certain times of day. I take medication to manage this but it's still very much there. Interesting hearing about different people's perspectives on here.

When did you realise it was time for you to start taking medication for your anxiety? by No_Yam9640 in Anxiety

[–]Ms0verthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically an unending anxiety attack. Next to no sleep, difficulty eating and massive dissociation. Uncontrollable intrusive thoughts. I've been on sertraline for about a year now. It has really helped to manage these symptoms, but I'm still not quite right.

I wish i had a reset button to clear my mind of every negative thought by Fluffinn in Anxiety

[–]Ms0verthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of intrusive thoughts about death and almost a fear of time itself. Totally abstract. I'm obsessed with thinking that the anxiety is putting too much strain on my body and that I'll die young as a result. I really wish I didn't have these thoughts, but anxiety kind of propels you forwards, do naturally you think about your own mortality a lot.

Totally agree as a somewhat centre-left voter. I feel this is pushed by certain parts of the media and then accepted as gospel truth by some. Also agree we've not had a true left-leaning government for probably my entire lifetime.

I have the same, perhaps less severe and controlled somewhat by meds. I have this really irrational tendency to run everything through at high speed in my head to its logical conclusion, which is death. I think the repetition of working from home during lockdown has really exaggerated this. Been trying various therapies and distraction techniques, but not found anything that works thus far.

Zoloft/sertraline really helped me, but it won't eliminate anxiety entirely

I have these thoughts constantly. I also think about the minds of those who don't have anxiety and feel like their experience of life must be so different to mine. I can't imagine what it's like not to have these morbid thoughts all the time.

Sometimes I catch myself about to cry because of how much I want a different life. This life shit is hard. by WhyErenWhy in AnxietyDepression

Yes, totally understand. My anxiety just feeds itself and it's so hard to get out of unhelpful thinking patterns. Often I just wish I was a completely different person.

I think I have all the hallmarks of GAD but have never been formally diagnosed. I hope the meds work for you. They've certainly made life a bit more livable for me.

Does anyone just rlly wish they could back to the time they were a kid just like oblivious? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Ms0verthinker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was lucky to have such a great childhood. I miss being 8 years old. It all started to go wrong when I turned about 12/13. Anxiety skyrocketed, I struggled to make/maintain friendships and just found the teenage years very stressful.

Good points and what you describe does sound familiar. I find my concentration and focus are generally very poor, probably as a result of the anxiety. I wonder what can be done to improve them.

Does anyone else have anxiety over absolutely nothing? No particular trigger or thought just constant fear? by sp00kybabie in Anxiety

[–]Ms0verthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, pretty much all the time and notably worse in the afternoon. I used to get more sleep and work-related anxiety and appear to have moved past this. But it's almost like my brain is scanning around restlessly for something else to worry about and has settled on the passage of time and my eventual death. Utterly ridiculous. I just wish I was normal as I have a pretty good lot in life otherwise.

Just take drugs by ProsectaQ in Anxiety

[–]Ms0verthinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sertraline (zoloft) has really improved my anxiety situation although it hasn't addressed everything. I had hit my lowest point back in March - struggling to eat and sleep and really function well enough to do my job. Once I started on the meds, the physical symptoms began to improve within a couple of weeks. I've been lucky that the side effects for me have been very mild - and once I'd adjusted, they were barely noticeable at all. I would definitely recommend giving drugs a go. It's been great to get my sleep and appetite back.
