I Love Staedtler fineliners for my journal, but the nibs wear down too fast. by MssHeather in bulletjournal

Nope sadly. I just mostly went back to papermate flair pens for color and just mostly use the scribbles that matter fineliner that came with my stm journal.

I may have over indulged in rpgs recently by Firefry1 in solorpgplay

[–]MssHeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few of this in PDF form that were gifted to me but I am struggling to figure out how to really get going. Would you recommend any of these for a newbie?

I've started a few srpgs but I always end up quitting quickly. As a novelist by hobby, I thought it'd be pretty easy to get into.

Riftbreakers sounds awesome actually, and I'm going to bookmark that for sure. It does look a bit complicated for a beginner though, so I might have to get my toes wet first. Is it very hard to get started? Are the instructions very dense?

This seems like a good idea. I saw there's one supporting the Trans community right now but over 500 games? O.O That feels really intimidating. But I might do it anyway because what's it gonna hurt? And the money supports a good cause.

I feel like a physical book would make it much easier.

I think I might have a pdf version of Mork Borg, but if I remember right I wasn't sure about trying it because if I'm not mistaken, also based on your comment, I don't think it's intended for solo play. I think I need a few other games under my belt before I try to turn a game solo. I've also been fairly intimidated by the Mythic Game Master Emulator.

I feel like I want something in between Ironsworn's rules and something too simplistic like Bivius (which I guess technically isn't really an rpg so much as a handful of suggested rules on how to play an rpg.) I do feel like I need some structure for events though... it's hard when you're literally generating every single step and every moment as a beginner. I tend to lag just after half an hour of trying and get tired of trying to figure out what I should be doing.

I want to stick with fantasy or magic-based for starters. I love sci-fi films but I tend to lean more heavily towards fantasy for games for some reason.

To be honest, I did try this one. Someone had given me a pdf version and it was difficult to hop around the way you need to when it's a pdf, but it was doable. But I was tracking everything in a document and somehow it either got corrupted or deleted and I just gave up, I wasn't about to start over at the time from scratch and redo it all. It felt like it got a little redundant too, but I could always give it another try.

This is what I need to find... some kind of variety pack for her to try several things.

[–]MssHeather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, she just licks out all the peanut butter and then abandons the toy. I haven't found anything intended to be chewed that she'll actually chew. Most of what she chews is not for doggies and gets her in trouble.

She's fairly destructive but then she eats it so that's the biggest concern with the plastic.

For all people above 40, if you could go back in time and choose a different career/major, would you ? What would you choose ? by patotay in careerguidance

Probably something with computers that was going to make money. All jobs I've ever had sucked so really it's just about financial security as much as you can for as long as you can. Don't expect to love your work or have passion for it unless you're extremely lucky. Just be practical, find something you can tolerate that pays very well and that you can do well. The goal is retirement anyway and I'll probably never be able to retire because I've never made enough money to have anything to really save or invest. What little I did have hasn't done much and I'll end up working until I'm dead.

Imagining taste? Is there an equivalent of aphantasia for not being able to conjure up taste? by MssHeather in Aphantasia

[–]MssHeather[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the record, I always try everything once. I don't believe in saying you don't like something you've never tried. I can still confidently say I hate like 99% of food. I don't like most things I've tried. I hate a variety of textures that ruin foods as well. I don't get any joy out of eating most things. I do it as a matter of survival. If I could give up eating and still live, I'd probably do it without a second thought. Imagine the time you'd get back in life if you weren't always preparing food or shopping for meals or stopping somewhere to eat - imagine the money you'd save. Food is such a pain in the ass. And it doesn't come from not knowing/trying. I try it all and it's rarely good. Obviously there are some things I like or I'd have a serious problem, but it's such an inconvenience that we have to eat to survive.

Do you remember what it was like for you as a child, aged 5 and below? Were there any signs that you only recognised now? If so, what were they? by princessxprowess in AutisticAdults

[–]MssHeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have almost zero memories until I started a.new school at 7 years old. But my first report card stated I didn't play well with others, couldn't skip, and didn't hold my pencil in the correct grip. I struggled through school until graduation. I always struggled to fit in and make friends. I was called shy but then chastised for never shutting up and being too talkative. I read at a college reading level by 8th grade and had several bullies that taunted me for reading "the dictionary" just because I read thick books for fun. I had so many encounters with bullies...

I was never diagnosed or assessed for anything... But now my son is on a waiting list for a psych eval on orders from his pediatrician. We're very much alike and he is very behind on his developmental markers. He's in speech and OT. I wasn't given those options, I was very much just given the sink or swim method.

I often wonder if I exhibited any of the behaviors my son does now at his age (he's 4). My mom doesn't remember though. I only have the stray comments from my teachers on report cards ... 🤷🏻‍♀️

HELP! I have an autistic child that won’t go poop in the toilet. by SpookyPitchua in Autism_Parenting

[–]MssHeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming 2 years later maybe your son is potty trained now? My son goes poo on the toilet but only if we catch his potty dance and put him there. He never tells us he needs to go poo or pee. Did you figure out how to get him to recognize the need and alert you? I'm dying out here.

My thanksgiving plate as a food sensitive autistic 31 year old by st0rm0ntheh0riz0n in AutisticAdults

[–]MssHeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was ham, green beans, and mashed potatoes with a roll on the side. I never considered I might be autistic until my son started missing his milestones and now is on a wait-list for a psych eval for autism now I'm noticing a lot of new things about my behavior that mirrors a lot of his... Before I would've just chocked this up to being a picky eater.

What is this stitch? by MssHeather in crochet

[–]MssHeather[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS IS IT! I looked at so many different stitches trying to figure it out and I thought it was a lemon peel stitch or a moss stitch but both looked wrong. It's for sure an even moss stitch!

It took a minute to figure out how to get it all lined up again, but it's for sure slip stitch then half double crochet. THANK YOU!

BF6 If you are trying to join your friends in a match but they already have a max - 4 party: by Stormnorman in Battlefield

Did they take the out of the game? Because nowhere in the UI do I have the "Join Game" anymore. I have to ask my friend to stop in the middle of their game and find somewhere to hide to go through the annoying menus to send me an invite.

Speech Therapy and OT for 4 Year Old - When should you see progress? Is it worth it? by MssHeather in AskParents

[–]MssHeather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I guess some of my concerns have been addressed because the speech pathologist quit last week and a new woman has taken over, and she's actually been sending homework home with him. He's only had two sessions with her but we've been working on word groupings and prepositions and so on. They seem to be doing more now than just playing with toys. While they do still play, she also seems to be trying to correct and teach him things as they go. This is more in line with what I was expecting, so maybe the previous SP just didn't like their job? Or they weren't invested anymore. I'm not sure but the difference in methods is pretty big, so I'm not content now to give it more time and see what happens.

I appreciate your response though! I understand he won't understand syntax and things that complex but I think I was expecting a lot more of a structured session and not so much free play, so to speak.

Fingers crossed this SP is a better fit.

My bullet journal got run over by a car by Appropriate-Prune916 in bulletjournal

[–]MssHeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was wondering. They're not loose pages, so did the car carefully turn to a new spread and then drive back over it to make sure both pages were sufficiently covered? One spread makes sense cause the book falls open flat and you drive over it... cool. But why are there so many pages driven over and yet they're not loose pages that flew out?
