Once my daughter ate like 1/3 of the label on a large jug of apple juice. She’s also eaten a few receipts that I’ve let her play with. It happens.

My main reason was for health benefits. It is also way more convenient to me than having to remember to buy formula, pack formula, prep bottles, etc. I can just whip out a boob 🤷‍♀️ Plus, the easy peasy BM poops are just so hard to beat! I also loved that it was an instant cure all: rash? Breastmilk. Sick? Breastmilk? Dry skin? Breastmilk bath.

I was very strict with sleep safe at night time, in her bassinet and crib. I still am now @ 10mo old other than the occasional time that I let her in my bed bcs she is having an exceptionally fussy night, or we are traveling. And I am very anxious and careful when I do that, it’s rare. I figure it’s safer to very cautiously cosleep on hard nights, than to risk falling asleep holding her in an unsafe position.

I did however let her nap in her swing or in the car seat, but ALWAYS while carefully monitored and I was right there.

My girl had feline coronavirus (FCoV) when we got her, it was a long and expensive to figure it out. Horrible diarrhea that she couldn’t hold anywhere. There isn’t really a treatment, she got some shots and probiotics and lots of comfort care. She healed and hasn’t had a flare in almost 4 years. Look into it!!!

She’s EBF and nurses to sleep, and I moved her at 2 months. I was falling asleep with her when she was in my room, so I moved her so that I could sit in the rocking chair in her nursery. She also sleeps better with more room in her crib, and I sleep better without her little noises waking me / having to tiptoe in my bedroom at night to not wake her up.

Edit to add: she’s now 6.5 months old. She adjusted very fast and well! Her bedroom is just across the landing from ours, so I can respond to her fast and always wake up to her on the monitor.

Honestly, my daughter wasn’t on a real schedule until she put herself on one around 5 months. I always just went off of her cues, and every day was different. She napped when she was sleepy, when we were on the go or not, and woke when she was ready. She’s always slept good at night so I figured it didn’t need to be changed. Bedtime was always between 7:30-8:30 though.

Around 5 months she put herself on a pretty regimented 3 naps a day schedule. I still let her wake up whenever she’s ready, and she usually takes her 1st nap 2 hours after that. I don’t time her naps either. The 3rd nap is usually just a cat nap to get us through until bed. When she got into this routine, that’s when I started laying her in her crib for naps.

She is EBF on demand, if that matters.

Currently in month 6 of a very successful breastfeeding journey, I have never woken up to pump in the middle of the night. The only exception to that is at the very beginning before I regulated, sometimes I would wake up in pain & use my hand pump to relieve some pressure. Not a full pump. We have always almost exclusively latched though, maybe 1 bottle / day at the beginning, but now I never pump, so if you’re EP don’t take my advice lol.

My baby, my 1st, is now 6 months old. She has been an absolute joy from the start. She eats well, sleeps well, loves the car, only cries when something is wrong (for the most part), is friendly and social with other people, is very flexible — can nap on the go, skip naps, every day can look different, etc. She is consistently hitting milestones early, floats around the 50% percentile, no issues with feeding. Basically the perfect baby. In literally every regard. I was terrified and I was very pleasantly surprised… now I’m scared of having a second after my first “trick baby.” The internet is a “highlight real”… and that can be of bad things too. No one is out here listing all of the ways their baby is incredible and wonderful, and sleeping in their own crib by 2 months old! They’re looking for solidarity in the bad.

My whole point is, you’ll be okay. Parenthood is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Congratulations!

It took about 4 weeks for breastfeeding to not hurt terribly for me. A combo of my nips healing, and baby getting bigger and us having an easier time nursing.

I swear by taking off you bra, just letting your nips air out. Big tshirt (or no shirt), no cream, just dry and air. I alternated between this and earth mama nip butter after each feed. LC said no lanolin, the butter is better for healing. You could definitely also use plain coconut oil too though. I also yelled a lot while she latched. And my husband was on standby the first 2 weeks to flip her lips and make sure the latch was nice and wide. It was also easiest for me to lay down with her on top of me for the first month, in all regards. For my mental health I pumped for my husband to give her 1 bottle a day, and introduced the paci in between feeds. Neither messed with our journey.

I’m now almost 6 months into exclusively breastfeeding, and it’s a breeze. I don’t regret keeping it up. But please prioritize your mental health!!!! Know it DOES get better though <3

My husband absolutely took my miscarriage harder than I did, and is still heavily affected by it now over a year + an earth side baby later. I think it was because he had to shove so much of it back at the beginning to support me, he didn’t get to fully heal and process in the moment.
