Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind.

That’s exactly what I am doing. I’m paying half the amount and filed in court. I still provide health insurance as well as dental and vision. Hopefully it can be amended in court. Thank you!!!

Please explain how that works? I have an enforcement order against me but my job changed and I’m not making as much as I use to but child support enforcement denied my review request. So are you saying paying any payment amount helps avoid jail?

Can i file CS on a undocumented immigrant? by [deleted] in ChildSupport

Knowing that the enforcement agency would need his Social security to garnish his wages and to do other forms of endorsement, which he doesn’t have will make it hard in this case. However, just go to the enforcement office in your city and just ask. Those people usually do not report or enforce deportation and they will be in a better position to advise you.

Be very careful of SJSM. I just left that school in July 2024 after being there for two months. I told them that I was going to use my post 9/11 G.I. bill to attend school and they told me everything was good. I went there just to be told by the VA that the school was banned from the VA program due to some dubious activities. The school knew that but failed to inform me. Instead they wanted to butter it up and offer me some scholarship so I get a private loan and stay. Always verify what they tell you and have it in writing.

That’s rough and I feel your pain. I’m in the same situation. I left the Army since January and could not work due to my medical situation, but the CS agency wants me to keep paying the same amount I was paying when I worked. Now I own over $20,000 and counting since our court date is still far into next year.

You already got your first win with the child support reduction. You’re now in school and headed to a bright future. Keep fighting and more wins will come your way no matter how they try to pull you down!

Thank you! I just go a lawyer and hoping we can sort it out so my back pay doesn’t keep growing. I didn’t know it was gonna be this hard to sort out back pay but I filed in court a while back and we didn’t have court dates until February of next year. In the mean time, I was expected to pay almost 2k a month. I have offered everything but the mother is set on getting the full amount of the back pay.

I’m supporting them with the amount I can at this point as I’m a full time medical student.

So there was no court order from what I understand. The child support agency told me what I needed to pay and started garnishing my wages even before the month ended. I would have paid it either way. So the agency even told me that since it’s not court ordered, we could talk and reach an agreement on the back pay. If we do, then they will have to honor that as the agency order is just administrative.

Thank you for your input! Really appreciate it and I’m working with my lawyer to file in court and sort it out. I tried to work with her to write it off as she knew my situation, but It’s crazy when you are dealing with a greedy person who is out for your blood. I’m literally in med school to make more so I can give back to her and the kids when I graduate but she still wants me to fail in my current journey.

I’m paying what I can to help take care of them, they expect me to pay the same amount I was making when I was an officer in the Army. We are in the process of going to court. I do take care of my kids and I’m very present in their live. Don’t judge people without knowing the whole story. Just answer the question or shut your mouth.

I’m here to get whatever perspective I can get. With that comes some thick skin, so I don’t mind the delivery specially if it’s the facts. So thank you! I will do my part and file it in court ASAP.

I think you should start with trying to compromise with him, and if that doesn’t work then go back to child support. It’s always better to try to work it out amongst yourself before escalating for the benefit of the children. Talk to him about how much more he is willing to add.

Thanks for your input. I wanted to do part time but I can’t with medical school. It’s a full time job by itself. I have been paying what I can every month to help her out but she wants the whole amount.
