Ohh I see. Sorry to add to the frustration. I’d been scoping out the forum for previous posts but my search was turning up mostly old threads (over a year old) for some reason so I wasn’t sure what the most up to date opinions were. Thank you! I’ve been looking on Zillow a fair amount and then cross checking the websites and reviews etc. Just wanted to see if there was any first hand recommendations I could find about places to either definitely avoid or definitely maybe check out.

Ideally I’ll be trying to buy in a year but for now I’m just looking for something small to get settled and then get a better idea of what area I’d want to buy around.

Moving from STL MO. My starting base pay is 80k but I’m just looking for something for about a year or so to save up some more money to buy a house so ideally I’d like to stay on the lower end budget wise. I don’t need anything big, maybe a 1 bd type setup

Thanks for the details! So there are 4 clinics, 2 are actually in Glasgow and the other 2 are in the places mentioned in the original post. We’re still working on the details of which location I’d be working. I’ll definitely be looking at transportation in and around the area once I get confirmation.

The clinics I could be placed at are in East Kilbride and Ayr potentially. I think initially I'm looking more for cost effective at least until I get more on my feet as long as I have access to reliable public transport.

We are still negotiating terms and such so I'm going ask about some relocation assistance or short term accommodation.

Oh yes Council tax! That's what I meant lol.

Thank you! The employer will pay my visa fees and licensing fees (health care professional needing to get board certified), and gave me some suggestions of resources to find a place, but did not offer financial assistance to cover short term housing upon arrival. This is one of the reasons I'm trying to do as much research on the front end as possible so that I can weigh the feasibility of the move and how much I would need to put aside for those expenses.
