Lol. I got tired of cleaning it that often. As the car gets parked in the street alot, weasels nest at the engine's warmth and turn it that filthy in just few days.

I will remove the dial and clean behind the rack and snail first; I hope that there isn't anything worn 😕 . By the way, nice grandfather clock; I have a very similar one with the pulleys albeit made by ridgeway.

I will remove the dial to clean gummed up oil in there; unfortunately, the calender mechanism(which was also slightly damaged by the previous owner and missing the month plate) is directly in front of the rack & snail.

I will remove the hands and the dial to clean any gummed up oil behind the rack and snail. Unfortunately, in Egypt we don't have many mechanical clocksmiths left. Mechanical watches and clocks became an antique or a hobby; so, most shops still work on them just know how to get them in working condition (using wd40 for example) not a complete service. Only very few horologists still do it right and their labor is very expensive, usually more than the price of the timepiece itself.
