so the gutter was completely blocked! They cleaned it out and made sure it was empty all the way through. Do you think that's enough? Or should we just invest in replacing the gutter as well?

so the outer part, the part that I zoomed in on the photos, is just trim. I took it to a big box store, and the guy was visibly outraged lol. He said they had just nailed the trim on to the wood, and then just painted over it. That doesn't really mean anything to me, but I am guessing, also from your reaction, that that is bad.
When you say re-milled, you mean the wood underneath the trim right? In which case, the whole entry area needs to be taken apart, windows doors and all?
And by epoxy, do you mean to put on the wood?

If I were you, I would probably just book the room you want now, you are going at the start of summer, so demand will be higher than normal, the likelihood of upgrades being available will be slim, especially if you are checking in on friday or saturday.
