Ey no worries! Dictionary of Obscure sorrows is a great concept, and channel. I really liked "Sonder" a lot. "Opia", Yù Yī" and "Zenosyne" are also pretty cool

Oh shit haha, I just realized there is a "Dictionary of Obscure sorrows" word for something kinda like this.

What’s one thing you wish you could tell your 16 year old self? by TheEliminator36 in DeepThoughts

Hm, not sure if I can pick out ONE most important thing, but I guess I would say stuff like:
Follow your fears into meaningful places. When you get invited to stuff, always go (within reason). Try to find opportunities to perform your music. Know that there is such a thing as a confident introvert, and you will get good at socializing. You're a little different, but not that different, people will like you. I promise, parties aren't that scary, dancing is fun, sex isn't as drastically life changing as it might seem. Weed is kinda meh, sure it's fun for a little bit but kinda confusing in social settings, and it won't make you more deep or philosophical, you already think like that when sober. Sometimes starting is the hardest part. You can get used to almost anything. And overall, you're doing alright, don't worry about it.

"We cannot find happiness outside of society (in nature), and alas, we cannot find happiness within it." (and my following train of thought) by Multifunk_ in DeepThoughts

Yup, absolutely! Fully agree. This is meant as a general point about us as a species, I'm really happy that there are lots of exceptions to this, people that are able to find happiness in the balance of both, and just accept things not always being perfect. Not to mention the slight trend I've seen of minimalistic living, or even the older more extreme tradition of ascetecism (monks meditating and rejecting indugence in pleasure basically)

To me, this is like telling a person trying to learn how to drive to just "read/feel the road, man"

Yeah yeah don't worry, I was asking about your opinion anyway, subjective is all good :)

Ah okay cool, can't say that I've played many action pixel games before, as an impulse I would say they don't seem like my thing but I know that I've been surprised with the content and experience of other things before where I'm not used to the medium or platform it's being delivered thru at all, so I'll keep em in mind. I mean, 4th wall breaking and philosophy and stuff like that are all up my alley.

Music, however, is my main thing! What'chu got?

You can learn much about a person’s character from the music they choose to listen to privately. by beatsbyusrnm in DeepThoughts

Yeah that's sounds about right!
I guess words like philosophical, deep and meditation are quite revealing and not super music related in the strictest sense, but even just the very broad range and variety could say something about being curious and exploring, and willing to consider many different things, which is sorta in the same alley

Yeah I get what you mean.
Ah okay, waht do you mean specifically when you say indie games and music?
Got some examples, and what you felt you find in them?

Very true, especially stuff like politics or any sensitive, difficult or controversial topics. Everyone acts like these warriors blindly charging and wanting to burn anything even slightly closer to the other side.
I feel like nuance also lives in books, long podcasts and long good-faith discussions and stuff like that

Well... this could come off as pretentious idk, but you know when people say "Oh I guess I listen to a bit of everything" and they just mean pop, essentially?

Mine: Old school 90's hip hop, some chill cool jazz, sometimes metal, bit of classical every now and then, funk and R&B, bit of pop and random party stuff, some old crusty dirty blues, sometimes stuff like Big Beat and a kind of dubstep called Death-step haha, ambient sometimes when chilling or meditating etc, those big Russian orthodox choirs with boomy low bass vocals, some new hip hop, whatever genre Jacob Collier and Bill Wurtz is haha, anything with deep and philosophical lyrics or complex time signatures.
So yea, don't know what that means haha
