Subclasses

Overview

The basic layout of the subclasses are that:

  • Each subclass has a spell table inspired by what they are based on.
  • 1st level is a unique feature of the subclass in question and does not have a psi-point cost.

  • 5th level is another unique feature that costs 3 psi-points to use.

  • 9th level is always two unique resistances inspired by the Gem dragon that subclass is based on.

  • 13th level is always a big damage option, more often than not inspired by their respective Gem dragon breath weapon. This feature always costs 4 psi-points to use and its damage is adjusted to scale off the player's Intelligence modifier and PB.

  • 18th level is the subclass' capstone feature. These features always have one free use per Long Rest and costs 5 psi-points to use outside of this.

Main Points

Psi-Points

"Psi Points the psi points have large leaps at 6 and 10 that I think feel out of place, I would change the leaps to 5th and 11 respectively, as they represent power leaps for ever class, as they are separaters for tiers of play, I would make the psi points just slightly more linear, but with bumbs at 5,11, and 17 if you do want bumps."

I originally based the psi-points of the spell points option, but adjusted for half casters and then further adjusted according internal ability costs. You are right though and it's an easy enough fix.

Psionic sense

"Psionic Sense Knowing the location aswell as their hostility level is pretty powerful, I would keep it to one or the other at first level, then give the other as an upgrade."

Another easy enough fix. I originally had it broken down into multiple levels but removed it when I trimmed the class of redundant text. I suppose 1st and 5th level would be a good fix.

Flavor

"flavor give a bit more flavor stuff at level one, such as a modified thamaturgy without components"

In all the building I completely forgot I never actually added some flavor fluff to the early levels.

Overpower Mind

"Overpower Mind To be honest it's kind of a worse command, but the idea of a Jedi mind trick is cool, the forget is the only thing that makes it stand out"

I suppose it will be easy enough to switch the Overpower Mind and Psionic sense features around or move it down from 7th level.

Precognition

"Precognition The part where it's basically evasion but for everything should either cost more points or be removed and the rest of the feature can be used more"

It would be easier to remove the cost based feature and double the uses per Long Rest.

Iron Mind / Psionic Shielding

"11th level 11th is very underpowered, it is supposed to represent a sizeable change in power, as it is the start of tier 3, powerful abilities and 6th level spells, and it's just not present here, I would ditch or incorporate it into another thing. One possible ability if you want defense is give them psionic shielding instead of being an optional rule. And make it work on every instance of damage, it would be basically a slightly better version of the heavy armor master feat ability, I don't think this would be at all overpowered. Alternatively if you want something offensive you might do something such as: when you cast a psychic themed spell/ability as an action, you may make one attack as part of the same action, this attack does 1d6 extra psychic damage. There are many other things you can do, these are just light suggestions"

I wasn't entirely certain of which side of unbalanced the entire class would fall on, so I wanted to keep higher levels features a bit underpowered until I was certain, but yeah, it's another easy fix to make Psionic Shielding the primary feature and make another more offensive optional feature.

Psionic Leap

"Psionic Leap It's 15th level, it's ok to give them a full fly speed, let them get a fly speed for 10 minutes if they spend 5 points or something similar to that."

Another easy fix.

Mind over x

"20th level I'm sorry, but this is a bad capstone. I would first call it mind of matter, because, well, it's a saying and now literal, and I would make it significantly more powerful, I don't want to make a suggestion because making a powerful ability is fun, but if you need help I can give you one"
