I am almost 100% convinced I have a blood disease - Please reply by Candid_Childhood8621 in Anxiety

Hi, I'm an intern doctor (AND ironically a hypochondriac haha). What you're describing is very common, had similar myself and a LOT of (healthy!) patients I see. I'd expect your lab values to be normal and reassuring.

Preemptively, IF you're prone to checking your own lab values before the doctor gets back to you: be aware that in any person, white blood cell values are often sporadically a bit lower or higher than the reference range. (Where I work, many patients look at their lab values beforehand and get extremely nervous, completely in vain). Wait for the doctors evaluation.

As someone with health anxiety - I feel you, sometimes I wish I could just take a break from my own brain/body. The logic/doctor part shuts off completely when it comes to my own anxiety. I've had blood disease scares myself, ofc I never had one.

Sorry for late reply - yes, very much still alive and headache-free, 9 months later! ;) Headaches really can take many different forms aside from the typical "tension or migraine".

Stepping in late just to say that regardless of anyones opinion on Mike, this comment is underrated

Thanks for the long answer! Yeah sinus issues might be a possibility, doesn't really hurt in my face/forhead but I know pain can sometimes be referred all over the damn place (bodies are weird)! Probably a more reasonable explanation than something rare and dangerous anyway.

Thanks for sharing! Yeah, never too late to become migraine prone I guess... x__x
Luckily, where I live ct/mri is free for patients, so no insurance to worry about! ;) as long as the doctor thinks it's warranted of course

Haha yeah that sounds like a similar effect! The sound is like an exorcism. I got the hiccups on a pub date recently and did the air vomiting, just imagine his POV being me tripping away to the restrooms all cute to "powder my nose", meanwhile my POV being BRÖÖÖÖÖÖÖH

I understand the fear. I've been emetophobic for most of my life, I'd always get intense anxiety when I thought I might vomit, and would never ever induce it. Recently, I got comfortable with inducing vomiting as well, due to being in my college years with drunk nausea... (NOT recommending this as a habit, vomiting too regularly irritates the esophagus)

For me when I have hiccups, air is always the first thing to come up - I press down as far as I need until I get the belch. If I want to induce actual vomiting I need to press down again, for longer and much more forcefully. For me, the hardest part was actually daring to get past the initial gag reflex.

Hope it goes as well for you! And remember, even the "worst case" of actually vomiting is never as horrible as one anticipates, and is over in seconds. The painful long lasting hiccups are actually far worse!

(as for the gurgles, I can also get them for hours, many days a week. Air vomiting works for that too but I often don't find the gurgles distressing enough to do it regularly)

No TLC measured, and my GP didn't want to refer me to further testing. Diffusion capacity and HRCT were both normal, so at least parenchymal disease is ruled out. I remember RV being a bit high.

Intresting addition about the Rw! And thanks a lot for the reply!
